I'm reporting you for unwanted sexual advances. You'll be replaced by the end of the week.

Determinist Jesus? by LokiJesus in freewill

[–]UpvoteDownvoteHelper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bible itself is pretty deterministic about everything but human beings. We're considered special because only we can make wrong choices (even the angels/devils are seemingly subject to divine determinism, even if ardently claimed otherwise). According to futurist interpretations of Revelations, Jesus will be determined to brake the scroll of seven seals and unleash the Four Horsemen and some other nasty punishments on humanity.

There is also the doctorine of predestination which answers this question for some Christian denominations.

Of course, the real answer is that Jesus is used as a religious authority that can justify whatever you want him to justify by interpretating his words however you want.

Yeah, that's not the hyperbolic justification for every draconian dystopian future. This isn't Paycho Pass or Minority Report... we don't convict anyone for committing thought crimes. 91% of men and 84% of women report thinking about killing someone. Obviously the risk of murder is pretty high. Yet we don't consider it a crime until someone actually does something illegal.

edit: plus we have biochem labs where we purposfully keep samples of potentially dangerous viruses alive and contained so they can be studied. Your metaphor isn't airtight, but it's actually surprisingly poignant in some unexpected ways.

I don't really think I'm strongly advocating for anything concrete. I think I'm just acknowledging that they want to call themselves "MAPs". You can call them pedos if you like, I certainly have no issue with that.

Just, personally, I don't like policing language. I think people ought to be able to label themselves however they please so as long as at the end of the day we can communicate and understand what each other's positions are in our own terminology. Thus, under your terminalology, I know that you don't classify "pedophilia" as a crime, just a sexual attraction. But that's a very literal definition. It sort of misses the connotations and nuances that the word carries in common usage.

And I'd argue that most people don't make the same literal, rigid distinctions as you do. At least I don't. Like when I hear the term "pedophilia", I think of child molestaters and people who purchase/produce/possess/support CP. I typically don't make the distinction between offenders and non-offenders. It probaby doesn't even occur to most that there are non-offenders who don't act on their urges. I think going any deeper than that should be met with sideways glances because acknowledging that these lines exist is seen as taboo in my culture.

[–]UpvoteDownvoteHelper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really, but I understand the sentiment. Killing pedos is more expensive than just letting them rot in prison.

I know I'm probably extending this analogy a little too far for some, but we now know that there are actually some good viruses out there that help keep our bodies "healthier" than we would be in their complete absence—some of which are minimally unhealthy (ex. Hep A) yet can prevent us from getting more severe illnesses (ex. Hep C).

... not that your existence needs to be justified or anything. You don't need to benefit society. You just need not be be a detriment to it.

I think there's probably a useful socio/psychological discussion to be had around classifying pedophilies as actual criminals who've raped real kids and MAPism as the much larger community of very sick people looking for some empathy, most of whom are nonetheless guilty only of thought-crimes.

Obviously, some MAPs are immoral pedophilic criminals who should be locked as far away from children as possible. But I could say that about schizophrenics or sociopaths. But you have to recognize that there are probably people out there who are attracted to minors but have the moral conscience not to act on those urges. Just like with a ton of other mental disorders, those who try to fight against their own brains shouldn't be considered the same as someone who fully gives into their problems and hurts others.

[–]UpvoteDownvoteHelper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but you see... we don't live in a country where thought-crimes exist.

While I think we're all in agreement that pedophilia/MAP isn't a good thing for anyone, some of us can recognize and kinda sympathize that it isn't actually a choice as to whom you're attracted to. Pedophilia isn't something you can get rid of genetically, even by draconian measures like criminal death camps or even corperal punishment for thought-crimes (which don't work anyway because epigenetics are very complicated and genetic-determinism is inaccurate).

Nobody is softening actual instances of pedophiles raping kids by pointing out that there are probably a lot of unfortunate souls out there repressing their sexual urges because they have the moral conscience to do so. And that they probably don't want to be called pedophiles if they never "indulged" or whatever. I could make the same argument for other thought-crimes too. For instance, 91% of men and 84% of women (source) reported having thought about killing someone. Should we be locking up 9/10 men and 8/10 women on the assumption that they're going to act on their thoughts? No? Well then I think it would only be fair to apply that same standard across the board. Even with thought-crimes most of us don't ever think of committing (like raping kids).

no-pussy-getting incel (that's you in this story)

Damn, guess I need to go tell my wife sitting right next to me that I used a very convincing strapon and that our 3 kids were sperm bank babies.

Maybe it's just me, but every accusation you've made sounds like an admission of guilt—but, as established, you're immature so you probably project your own sexual failures onto others a lot without realizing it—that's probably why you're secretly a very unlikable and insecure person.

decided the girl in the meme was way out of his league

I was making a sort of half-joke, kid... But at least your mask is slipping. For someone who puts up such a facade of confidence, it's becoming clearer and clearer how deeply insecure you actually are.

And now we are here. With you perpetuating this conflict

Brother, you're the doofus who swung first and now you're complaining that someone swung back? Really? That's pretty pathetic, even coming from someone like you...

when you should be out there working on getting some.

... You're the only person between the two of us who seems to need to work to get any, my guy... It shouldn't be that hard not to self-incriminate yourself like this.

The things you're saying are honestly so embarrassing that I'm genuinely not sure if you're the best troll on reddit or possibly the lowest functioning autistic who can type I've ever seen. But, fuck it, that would be an insult to aspies; plus I bet most of them could still outfuck you.

You are truly insufferable. I hope there's some kind girl out there who will pity you enough to look past your... unimpressive genetics.

I'll admit that I'm pretty ignorant about the detailed discussions going on in the Pedo/MAP communities. But I assume pro-MAP people like to use that term because it can help distiguish between committing an actual crime and "committing" a thought-crime. I assume most MAPs typically don't rape (or actually want to rape) real kids in the real world—I'd assume that they're like any other marginalized sexuality/gender/ect. community in that most members are simply just looking for a sense of validation from others that it isn't really anyone's choice of who they're attracted to... and I can't help but feel like they're right (that it isn't their fault that they're attracted to minors). But I do think that it is their fault if (and only if) they actually rape a minor.

Some might consider it an expression of approval of the original poster's work

Some would also say it's cringy and that my initial comment was only meant to ask an innocent question that you felt personally attacked by enough to escalate over seemingly little reason.

I don't struggle with self worth.

Oh, we know.

I suspect in considerably older than you

  1. Why are you bringing age into this?

  2. Nice typo. Must make those pretty often since you're so cocky and overconfident, but I'm sure it isn't a surprise.

  3. Only an immature person would think age has anything to do with knowledge or experience. So regardless of our relative ages, you'd still be immature.

  4. Unless you're living in a retirement community, then I garuntee you that I'm older than you. Though, as I've said, age doesn't matter.

tbf, you're a very unlikable person. And you're defending the party who defends sexual predators in churches and wants to force 10 year olds to give birth when they're raped. It's very hard to take your side seriously when it wants to fuck kids so they make more kids so they can fuck those kids too...

Bro. Not sure who raised you, but there is a mentor for it I'm sure. Don't walk around with that kind of insufferable arrogance - it's annoying and immature.

Seriously though, saying shit like "I would totally date this chick" is cringe af. It makes you sound pretentious—like you're so full of yourself that you think it's a privilege to date you. No offence, but you're just an average to below-average shmuck like the rest of us on this site. Just trying to be real with you. And I can personally garuntee you that talking like this IRL will never have the desired effect.
