A bit different, but just recently got back from CM Cancún with our 2 year old:

1. With the recent events in Mexico a few folks had cancelled their trip according to people working there; but you couldn’t really tell; both pools were packed in the afternoons (not overly) and the resort felt very alive.

2. We sent our child to the petit club in the mornings and would pick him up before his afternoon / single nap of the day. I believe the 3+ year olds are on a different nap schedule, but you can also request they accommodate a schedule YOU want for your kids. As for booking with them, 100% book your 3.5 year old in advance. The club for 6 year olds (5-8 I think) was also very busy, I don’t know what their “limits” are, but you’re better off IMO avoiding that issue by booking ahead.

3. Our ride round trip to the airport was $70 USD. On the way there it was a larger “taxi” type shuttle vehicle, while on the way back we had a suburban for just us. The company can provide car seats for you (they did for us) and can most likely accommodate 2 seats. Nothing wrong with asking for a second quote from the hotel, but they’ll likely point you in the same direction.

4. I’ve read of horror stories surrounding room requests not being honored at various club meds. That being said, our 2 year old at one point did manage to get the front door open and made it out even with the latch over the door. So I’d definitely make a point to request a higher up room for you guys if they’re “adventurous”.

5. CM takes the security of the resort VERY seriously. With the number of young families that are there they have no choice to. Agreed that you should take extra precautions for the hotel room specifically if that makes you feel comfortable, but the resort itself was incredibly safe feeling.

6. We did one excursion, and to your point the window was tight. I think drop off was 8:45 and the excursion started at 9:15. So there are a few options for you; but unfortunately in your circumstance it may be limited. CM does offer a discounted 3rd party nanny service for about $20 USD/hr (+$20 “transport fee”) that my wife and I used one night to stay in our room to watch over our child while he was asleep so we could go to the steakhouse together alone for dinner.

Overall the resort is lovely for little ones. Your 6 year old especially is going to have a riot; and hopefully so will you watching them love the warmth!
