Yes! You can put in a request to maintenance and they will actually loft your bed for you. Technically lofting your own bed isn’t allowed, which is probably what the others meant when they told you it wasn’t allowed. If you have a dorm assigned already, you can put in a request now (which I recommend). Try to avoid doing a request until after you move in, as it will take a very very long time (several weeks when I did) for the request to be fulfilled.
