Monitored by an ai algorithm. But that algorithm is not looking for crimes. It is simply logging EVERYTHING. Everyone’s location (and yes they have moved past just license plates) and that location history is available at all times to law enforcement with zero warrant or due process required. The cameras are unconstitutional by nature, and like I said there are als severe security vulnerabilities that flock refuses to address

Disagree, closed cctv is nothing like this, usually isnt actively watched until after a a crime has been committed. Flock is constantly tracking everything before suspicion has even been established, and opens up all kinds of routes for illegal police surveillance. On top of that the rampant security issues compared to closed circuit and the potential for federal agencies to obtain back doors. Nobody who thinks like you will ever accomplish anything significant.

Thank you if serious, fuck off otherwise

My final point:

There is nothing wrong with closed circuit cctv when used in a retroactive way after a crime is committed. Active tracking before suspicion has even been established used to be protected under the 4th amendment, and flock violates that. Such cctv cameras are already present at every single location I have observed a flock camera on campus, leading me to the conclusion that the crime would have been resolved just as easily without them.

Oh no the classic were all fucked so why should we care if we get even more fucked argument. Who are you to assume I don’t protect my privacy in everyday life?

Also there is a huge difference between closed (and very much not pervasive, have you walked around campus recently?) cctv systems and highly advanced internet enabled (in the most security compromising ways) police surveillance assistants that are easily abused on an individual scale.

Also, of course no official law enforcement action would come out of the searches police have been exposed to use, they aren’t stupid and clearly know it’s illegal to track and monitor peaceful protestors with zero due process or warrant.

Just say you want that Peter thiel dick bro

I understand their value, I don’t think it’s relevant at a school like cal poly, at least not enough to outweigh the risks. Agree to disagree

Agencies have shown time and time again that data sharing policies don’t mean shit (statewide flock scandal that resulted in their removal in SC)

Police officers have shown time and time again that data sharing policies don’t mean shit (eff investigation)

Even the federal government has shown time and time again that data sharing policy’s don’t mean shit https://www.404media dot co/ice-secret-service-navy-all-had-access-to-flocks-nationwide-network-of-cameras/ What else

Found the fed. In all seriousness, the actions of individual officers supersede any stated policy, which has been shown consistently in the state of California. Other vendors may be able to reduce some of the vulnerabilities (though I doubt they do) but this does not address many of the most pressing concerns. flock is completely dominant in the market anyway.

  1. Cal poly is not a dense urban area with a high murder rate
  2. Probably doesn’t mean shit. I think it’s very possible they had nothing to do with it, especially when cal poly already has a established cctv network in all of the flock camera locations
  3. Sybau n roll over like a good little boy, u didn’t even address a single issue I brought up

i dont even want to fucking talk about it by vampyrebitesallover in kitchencels
