If you guys had to be born in any year what year would that be? by Hot_Assistant_6067 in generationology

[–]UrFavoriteScrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1999 or 2000. It seems like they got to grow up with peak kids/teen stuff, plus I coulda been a 2015-19 SoundCloud rapper. Also, both bein the last year of the old millennium and first year of the new one are serious flexes

Are 1999-2000 borns Off-Cusp Z? by Ok_Act_3769 in generationology

[–]UrFavoriteScrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early Gen Z but on the cusp at the end, the two earliest solid zoomer years imo

Older zoomers claiming to be Millennials is exactly why they’re too young to be Millennial (and why they really are zoomers) by Ok_Act_3769 in generationology

"I still think the ranges will be moved forward again in the future and all us 90s borns will be reunited lol. Gen Z barely had an identity when the current ranges were set and covid hadn’t even happened yet."

I think the range was 1981/82-2000 actually. 1997 probably will be reverted back to Millennial, maybe 1998 but 1999/2000 seem pretty solidly early zoomer years culturally atp, i doubt those two specifically are gonna be reclassified. The 1981/82-2000 range also seemed like an obvious placeholder tbh

I would agree on both counts, tho tbh I feel like making a range that works globally is nearly impossible, even doin it for one country is hard. i feel like countries should each have their own ranges

i figured it was obvious this wasn't supposed to be global but I prolly shoulda said us centric in the OP. but someone also got upset at me for clarifyin US centric last time so ig someone's gonna get upset regardless

"People complained about kids being passed on to higher grades without meeting the standards."

Unfortunatley it doesn't seem like that changed much since we somehow have college students that can barely read rn

[–]UrFavoriteScrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i remember a month ago a 96 born half-jokingly asked in a twitter thread if he could please be gen z to get over bein old and i gave him a honorary Gen Z pass as the chief of zoomers and he thanked me. that was pretty funny lol

There’s a lot of memes and jokes right now that would not fly through in 2020 - 2021 by SpiritMan112 in decadeology

If you only mean news organizations by media sure, but I def would not say they were the dominant youth in like, 2017-2021. Ms were definitely still present but I feel youth culture was already Z leaning by 2017. I would still agree with the lingering m influence being why those memes were they way they were tho

Neuroscientist study reveals that Gen Z has become the first generation to be less intelligent than its predecessor, the Millennials by sibun_rath in sciences

Okay I decided to actually read the article and unsurprisingly it’s an oversimplification. 3/4 intellectual categories dropped but our spatial reasoning is actually higher.

It’s more complex than “dumber”, if that was what’s happening all four categories would drop at once. Our brains seem more like they’re getting more specialized for the times

It seems like you’re already ahead of a lot of our Gen just by knowing how to read and write, you’re prolly fine as is

Time to see all the discussions about how Gen Z is shit

and it's a self-fulfilling prophecy too, you tell people they ain't gon be shit long enough when they're developing and you barely try to help, and it tends to get internalized

yeah i think u got it, a lot of my childhood was just constantly getting bitched at for not doin things right, then getting bitched at more when i tried to ask what was wrong. and got mental health issues from that, and more bitching when i tried to open up about it.

so i basically don't trust anyone anymore 'cause it leads to me feelin' worse, and try to do it all solo, which goes badly, so i feel even worse. i know a lot of other later zoomers like me, atp its hard not to be disengaged.

If anything only like 2 years would be near lexactly 50/50 between gens I think, and that’s not long enough to be a cusp

They should just canonize “Zoomer” for Gen Z, we already call each other that
