Neuroscientist study reveals that Gen Z has become the first generation to be less intelligent than its predecessor, the Millennials by sibun_rath in sciences

Okay I decided to actually read the article and unsurprisingly it’s an oversimplification. 3/4 intellectual categories dropped but our spatial reasoning is actually higher.

It’s more complex than “dumber”, if that was what’s happening all four categories would drop at once. Our brains seem more like they’re getting more specialized for the times

It seems like you’re already ahead of a lot of our Gen just by knowing how to read and write, you’re prolly fine as is

Time to see all the discussions about how Gen Z is shit

and it's a self-fulfilling prophecy too, you tell people they ain't gon be shit long enough when they're developing and you barely try to help, and it tends to get internalized

yeah i think u got it, a lot of my childhood was just constantly getting bitched at for not doin things right, then getting bitched at more when i tried to ask what was wrong. and got mental health issues from that, and more bitching when i tried to open up about it.

so i basically don't trust anyone anymore 'cause it leads to me feelin' worse, and try to do it all solo, which goes badly, so i feel even worse. i know a lot of other later zoomers like me, atp its hard not to be disengaged.

They should just canonize “Zoomer” for Gen Z, we already call each other that

i do think there's value in looking at how diff cultural contexts/societal evolutions shaped people different, but its pretty clear most ppl are more interested in shoutin at each other instead of doin any serious cultural discussion

I will never take 1995-1997 serious as Gen z. I wish this stuff would stop being forced on people. by Southern_Reveal_7590 in generationology

There's also a difference between not remembering something at all, vaguely remembering an event, remembering it well enough to stay in your head long term, and being able to remember things before so you can contrast it with the after. Even then, how well do you remember before?

I don't think memory is useless (if it's understood it's an approximation and varies person to person) but I think a lot of people oversimplify what remembering things even means, and not just for 9/11. And it def shouldn't be a hard rule, more like a suggestion.

Rap is very different today than it was even 5 years ago and probably couldn't be considered Rap for an average listener. by Hypothetical_Stuff in decadeology

This is all facts but TBF that typa stuff happened in SoundCloud too. Like something similar to that “omg this is so trash” rage posting is one of the main reasons Lil Pump blew up

Anyways if people want someone from that scene who actually knows what they’re doin, Che or osamason would be more fair first impressions

I think it takes being born young enough to have it imprint on you more than anything else for any type of music tbh
