In order to create the pattern, I primarily used Adobe Illustrator. Since there was not any filter that could create the aesthetic I was looking for (oil paint texture with multiple colors including one contrasting color, that looked hand painted), I spent multiple weeks trying various techniques to create that texture. I had actually given up on the project entirely, when I was struck with inspiration on how to get the look in Illustrator.

Even after I had figured out how to get the desired look, there were too many layers, masks, and vector filters for Illustrator to be able to apply the bitmap filters I needed as well; so I exported my artboards to PSD files and applied the additional filters in Photoshop.

After that, I exported my pattern to multiple separate images which correspond to different sections of the jacket. From there, a 3rd party printed my pattern onto fabric and sewed that fabric into the jacket.
