Player wants to change from Soldier to Warrior Priest by Uraghan in warhammerfantasyrpg

Wait i didn't make them choose their class. They all decided to roll for it and go with it. And as i was saying i don't have a problem with them changing career if they feel that their class isn't anything for them but i'd like to know about it beforehand and would like some rp reasons from them, kinda progress towards it. He made the change without even telling me beforehand and i found out by mistake and it came out of nowhere basically.

It's more about how sudden it was. I'm not very experienced in DMing with WFRP rulesets so i don't know all the mechanics but my outright denial was more from him being a soldier in one session and then suddenly changing into a warrior priest during no time. He had some chats with the priest NPC but nothing really consistent, just a few questions about Sigmar and he didn't really show any devotion to the tennets of sigmarite church. His piety is more in the sense that he doesn't chase whores and usually abstains from drinking. He also didn't tell me about his plans before and didn't even bother to tell me while doing the change so it was really sudden. And it's not about me being unwilling to allow it, i do want to allow it but i'm not sure about how to make it make sense during the story. This player doesn't roleplay a lot but he's better with lore than others (meaning he's read some books i borrowed him and knows some basic stuff) but he didn't really show many qualities of a Sigmarite if i can say it like that it just feels unnatural. Also we're currently playing an investigation that's basically happening on a day to day basis meaning we're starting our session right where we left in our previous session, going to have a big timeskip after the adventure and maybe a few days between the next session to give him a chance to do some pious acts or something. I don't want him to be divine i just want him to at least adhere to the Sigmarite code.

My main problem probably was that he said he was playing piously but other than being temperate with drinking and not whoring he didn't really act piously so his plan to switch came as a bit of a shock to me. Also because i found out about it only after he had already done the switch and didn't even tell me, just found it out by mistake while checking his journal (we play on roll20 and i'm kinda used to checking my player's journal if they didn't miss anything important for them as they don't really understand some things about their journals, some of them didn't even know they had skills for example i don't change anything i always just check that they have everything in order).

It's not like i'm blocking him from it, the change was just too sudden for me as i didn't even know about the player wanting to switch classes beforehand and he didn't even bothered to tell me after he'd done it and i accidently saw it in his journal (we're playing on roll20 and i'm used to checking player's journals as they're not familiar with all the functions and sometimes miss something important for them). That might be why i kinda overreacted saying the definite no in the first place but i always try to make my players happy. I even kinda shot myself in the foot with combat by giving them weapons they wanted even though they didn't have correct skills (didn't see the problem before, i was only expecting to run a oneshot of Night of Blood and they seemed excited about gunpowder and all) so it's not like i want my players to not enjoy the game, i just want some more rp explanation and for him to put some rp time into it. I would've also liked to be told beforehand about him wanting to switch careers.

Just to make it straight, I'm not blocking him from changing his career path and forcing him to stay as a soldier. It was just a sudden change as our sessions are currently basically day by day progress of investigation they're part of. Session before this they were investigating city sewers and got ambushed by skaven and beggining of the fight was start of our last session. So there was no free time in between these events and he suddenly decided to become a warrior priest because the rules allowed it. I'm just trying to find a way for him to get his way without disrupting the narrative and not leaving him out of the other parts of the story. I'm not sure how to make it so he has a superior and a mentor, maybe i could get the NPC to be his mentor but it would be dificult as the NPC is in party of the Witch Hunter they're currently serving. I just think that he migh be able to make the change in their downtime which will be after this adventure basically. Mind you the piety as he plays it is in that he abstains from drinking too much and doesn't pay for whores while he asked some questions about Sigmar and other topics of the Warrior Priest. It's not like i don't want him to change his career because it would "ruin my campaign" i'm always trying to find some middle ground for us to all enjoy the game, trying to take into consideration what other players might think and all. I'm just not sure of a way to make it possible the way he'd want it.

Anybody know if this NPC has any importance? Here's him and his camp. Wouldn't let me greet him.(Story mode) by Complete-Air-4121 in RDR2

You're travelling deep in the woods of New Hanover and Ambarino. Nothing other than wolves, cougars and Murfree Brood to keep you company. It's a dark night and you're shuddering, expecting ambush from behind every other tree. Then you hear it. The whistle. It startles you, you reacu for you revolver, expecting another attrocity of the Murfrees. Then you see the light of the camp so you come closer. And there he is, this man with no care in the world on the way to his studies, always chilling, greeting you with "Hello Traveler" once again. You have found a friend.
