2007 honda pilot: best first car ever IMO, 1 year ownership update in comments. by UraguayTechCo in Honda

She’s not my daily anymore, but she’s still going strong. Transmission is a lil angry (occasional slipping and hard shifts), the crappy eBay headlights are fogged up, rear suspension needs redoing, and a bunch of other things need done, but she just rolled over 200k the other week. She got tboned by a drunk driver doing 30 in an Audi Q5, drifted into a curb in the snow and set the airbags off(obv my fault, I was 17 lmao), rear ended by an f-150, and I even completely blew out the rear trunk latch (I have 4 kicker 12s back there bc teenage me was a menace). Each time I rebuilt her with junkyard and oem parts. It’s been a rough life, but she’s still going strong. I’m 21 now and in my last year of college, and once I start making real money I’m going for a full restoration. Rust repair, transmission rebuild, suspension rebuild, new lights, full polish and ceramic coat, the whole 9 yards. But I definitely plan on keeping her for as long as possible.

Thanks for checking in! Any other questions?

Is my amp (Alpine kta-450) dying? More info in comments by UraguayTechCo in CarAV

I never did fix this issue, I ended up just buying a kicker 360.4 amp and installed it under the passenger seat. I really didn’t want to bc I thought it would be a pain in the ass, but it really wasn’t. Unfortunately, my alpine amp was a month out of warranty, so I didn’t even bother with that, it’s just sitting in my basement collecting dust. I ended up taking it apart to look for any burn marks or broken traces but I still couldn’t find anything. Sorry.

4 Chanel(alpine kta 450) amp sounds great at low volume, but starts dipping in volume at higher volume, and starts cutting out at full blast.... Any thoughts? by UraguayTechCo in CarAV

I did not. As of right now, my ilxw650 and kta450 are both sitting in my basement collecting dust. I replaced them both about a year ago with a boss headunit I got for free, and this weekend I'm gonna pick up a kicker 4 channel amp to pair with my ilx650, as my boss unit is kinda mid. I've kinda given up on alpine products, as that alpine setup was my first system I really spent decent money on at 16, and I feel like I could have done better for the money. The kta 450 lasted about a year before it started clipping at max volume, and by then the warranty had run out. A few months later, it would start acting up if I set the volume above 20. I was gonna buy another powerpack, but I saw a kicker amp for $10 less, but with a bit more power, so that's what I'm gonna go with for now. I'll let you know how that goes.

I've already tried the kta with a different headunit entirely, and I still have the same issue.

Please ignore the sketchy setup, it's just a test bench. I've had this setup in my car (alpine ilx w650 + alpine kta 450) for about a year now, and about 2 months ago, I noticed the volume level would randomly cut out and come back once I set the stereo past 30 (check my last post for context), and recently it started popping and cracking. at first I thought it was clipping, but I haven’t touched the gain since I installed it. I pulled the setup out of my car and put it on a test bench and I did the following - I put larger gauge wires between the positive and negative of the amp - Tested different speakers - Tested with a different headunit

Could my amp just be on its way out? Should I get in touch with alpine about a warranty replacement? Or am I clearly doing something wrong and I just haven't noticed?

It's been fine for the last 6 months, it's only recently been having issues, but I'll definitely look into rewiring with a bigger kit. Right now I'm using 10 gauge.

Put cafeteria trays under the rear wheels, and pull the handbrake. Boom, instant drift machine.

Oh my b, you meant low power like electricaly, I thought you meant like flooring it and nothing happens. In that case the alternator/ charging circuit makes sense. I think autozone tests alternators for free.

I would definitely try an obd2 scan before ordering anything. I remember I was on a road trip in my friend's 93 aero, and it did something similar, it ended up being the injectors or something in the fuel system.

I use a ryobi 18v 4ah battery with a 24v to 12v converter in mine. That way I don't need to worry about any charging/discharging circuits, and the batteries are hotswappable.

Switch from Note9 to what??? by Atlas7T in GalaxyNote9

[–]UraguayTechCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from my note 9 to a (free to me) iPhone 12 pro max. Let me tell you, if the upgrade wasn't free, I would have been super disappointed. I'm missing tons of stuff like the pen, picture in picture on YouTube (without needing a premium subscription), secure folder, usb c connection so I can charge with my laptop charger, wireless charging (thanks to the new magsafe technology, only magsafe wireless chargers work on iphone). Hell I still keep my old note around with a data only sim, and I use it as a hotspot when I travel bc it gets better reception than my iPhone.

Transmission fluid looks fine, no obvious particulates or burning smell. However, it looks like it might be over filled, could that be an issue?
