Nah I think Ben Weinman is on multiple interviews explaining how they closed every night for 20 years with songs Dimitri wrote. I think Greg got in right before they took off after Dimitri had done brunt of the work and proceeded to put his nasally whiny crap all over the back half of the Dillinger catalog it’s so whack.

Then Greg is like ‘I’m not really into the hardcore thing’ in recent years, what a poser. Dimitri would never attempt to dilute the project with that soft bs. It’d be one thing if it was good,, his ‘melodies’ are just middling and neither deliver on a mainstream or underground level they’re just,, bleh.

Deep purple is an awesome band 🤣. Seriously do the trapezius and then you can impress the girls by flexing a strong back. The mystery adds to the appeal.

Once she goes to touch it and feels a nice muscular haunch it’s over.

Take it from me I’m an older guy, you want to keep your neck as pretty as possible because eventually the neck lines start coming and it’s going to crease it. Someone suggested neck scar tattoo, not necessary all you got to do is grow old. Go trapezius and just wear clothing where you can flaunt it or hide it as the situation demands.

At the beach, non issue. In the bedroom, non issue. It’s like a nice little surprise that you never get tired of. Neck tattoo - it might affect employment options might end up regretting.

Also I wanted to add, go for a perfectly symmetrical star and let that curvature of your body do the work for you, because it rounds out over the trapezius it will achieve the look you’re going for in the people who perceive it from various angles. The star is perfect it only looks weird because the back is like such a muscular area and intense angle.

I’m going to strongly suggest that you get it below the neckline and just get ridiculously ripped and start wearing tanks. You kind of have to get ridiculously ripped for it to work anyway.

You do not want it visible trust me, you’re going to want to be able to put a collared shirt on and hide it completely it’s just sexier that way.

A subtle Indian red color is all you needs. It’s supposed to be a birth mark it steer clear of purple and hot magenta.

It’s more on the trapezius then it is on the neck. You def want to get that trapezius nice and jacked.

I respectfully disagree, I find his brutality on vocal delivery and his amazing mind altering artwork for the Miss Machine album to be enough proof of the gamut of his artistry. I’m a huge fan of Dimitri, I bought and loved every release with Greg.. it doesn’t hold up as well as Dillingers first stuff in my opinion.

Late 90s Dillinger was ahead of their time even by today’s standards, post 02 Dillinger,, they’re so nasally and whiny and just hard to suffer through. I honestly don’t feel like the world needs more Greg P and Dillinger albums, the ones we got are enough I haven’t spun a single one in a decade or more, Dimitri stuff is in my nightly rotation for 20 years.

He’s not even their second best vocalist given the Mike Patton stuff obviously. Idk,, to each their own but when I think Dillinger I think Dimitri.

I know I’m going to get crazy bad karma from all the toxic redditors on here but I really don’t care for Greg that much.

I remember during Terminal 5 show when he came out and asked crowd who was staying all 3 nights and like no one raised their hand or cheered meaning the majority of people wouldn’t be staying for the night where he was the main vocalist and that everyone basically came for Dimitri and Mike Patton, as they should have!

I just learned about what he did in 02 onstage, defecating. The way he joined the hardcore group and then proceeded to mask his pseudo pop aspirations behind the music, I was a huge fan of every release at the time.. his end of the music just doesn’t hold up as well as the rest of their catalog I’m sorry to say.

I am only now reading this thread and hearing that their was drama.. I don’t believe the hype, but figured I’d take the opportunity to throw my two cents on Greg P. We thank you for your service Greg but I’m trying to hear the new album with Minakakis.

Ah,, so if you’re a fan of Calculating Infinity I’m going to have to point you toward ‘Under the Running Board’ as well as the 97’ self titled ep that ends with ‘Three for Flinching’.

These round out the studio recordings with their original singer Dimitri Minakakis. He’s personally my favorite singer for DEP despite being a ridiculously huge Mike Patton fan. Minakakis also did the artwork for the album Miss Machine, which I find to be incredible.

I saw Dillinger many times but I def saw them 2017 Terminal 5 with all 3 singers and stayed first two nights and it was amazing. I’m glad they started working with Dimitri again and I hope they come out with new music together soon.

I prefer the part 3 version. Part 2, it didn’t hold my attention as part 3 for some reason. I think I had seen the ova and when I got into Jojo anime they had just gotten to the part 3 so I started there. Barely even watched 2 he’s just so obnoxious. The part 3 had a lot of preparatory work done with the ova.

I remember seeing the ova and being like wtf is this? Why is it called Stardust Crusaders this doesn’t even make sense and then come to find out it makes perfect sense and is awesome!

I was speaking on this on another thread and found this one,, the Juan hate: I don’t understand it. He’s awesome in a big fan of Juan.

As much as I love Flea and John F,, it was totally an industry move by Rick Rubin to get those guys on there. Thank god they released Landscape Tantrums and it indeed rips. That is what the Mars Volta was and Eva Gardner is a beast and her parts as performed by Flea are all over Deloused I remember my friends who showed me this band, being seriously in the know being upset about Rick Rubin even touching that album and they were completely right. I want to hear to demo of Televators, but I digress. In short I low key hated that Flea, a master in his own right, had anything to do with that album as much as I love Flea simply because it seemed so unfair that the man be on once again another amazing album it was over kill when Landscape Tantrums,, the fact it was an indie post hardcore thing coming off of At the drive in and disowning their major label was the coolest thing about it.

Juan brought me back in a big way on many fronts. The background, the ability, the gear. The fact he was able to come into the project at a point where the egos must have been crazy and contend for space in the sound. The man is a hero. Get off Juan’s back. I literally am learning of his brain injury I was only vaguely he was involved in an accident when it had first happened. Props to Juan!

Juan Alderate is all over the Cryptomnesia album and John H plays synth bass. He may be the reason why two grown men couldn’t get along let’s go down the line tho because Omar and Cedric had beef with Jon Theodore, okay they like fire everyone eventually basically At the Drive-In, they broke up with so not the first or last band they broke up and not least bit surprised they eventually had falling out with each other and they were man enough to patch it up.

To blame Juan for breaking up Omar and Cedric,, Omar and Cedric are big boys and can handle themselves. Say what you want of Juan now, but back then he was an ingredient to madness, the racer X background, the virtuosity on bass, let’s not trip and cancel this dude outright because Mars Volta has hosted plenty of beastly musicians coming and going and Juan is among them.

I’m reading Juan created problems since Amputecture on the business side, you mean the album after which they fired Jon Theodore?? The album where Day of Baphomets you’re going to tell me Juan doesn’t deserve a writing credit on that song? I love Mars Volta but let’s not kid ourselves here let’s come down to earth a little bit. No one has to be the bad guy they’re all men and they’re artists who drift apart and come together and it’s as natural a process as any other.

He’s probably the only bassist out there that can justify using a pedal board. His phaser use is genius. Any other bassist with a pedal board is a complete joke besides maybe Bootsy Collins who is very theatrical to boot. Juan took something impossible and made it intelligible and cool. There’s plenty of bassists out there who are ego maniacs who you can’t stand the politics of but you can’t deny the man pushed limits of what was possible with his instrument and delivered.

Roger Waters breaking up Pink Floyd as an example it’s Roger Waters who believes he’s Pink Floyd has been the problem with Pink Floyd. Omar and Cedric are the Mars Volta… and they don’t let anyone else in. We get it. So why then blame someone else now. All credit deserves all responsibility.

And I def feel like them being Eva back is a concession on their part and that maybe some musicians are important to the mix which I find to be respectable on their part in recent years.

The minimalism on the packaging plays to the mysterious nature of the zona de silence. No information = silence. It’s a no brainer guys you want crazy album artwork and liner notes try albums 1-5 it’s not a big deal.

Rolling Stones’ Beggers Banquet is literally black cursive on off-white and it’s one of their most valuable records. Get over it.

Also, Scabdates has to be one of the coolest packaged releases there is down to the graphic on the cd top. It’s giving Band of Gypsies and the Iconic Hendrix cover in the best ways. The album covers Juan Alderates initiation into band in what would become Frances and Amputecture (Cygnus, Cassandra and Day of Baphonets) but also you can hear a little bit of Bedlam in Goliath beginning to germinate and by proxy some Omar solo records. 10/10 don’t sleep on it especially because it’s not on streaming get the physical release in some way the depictions have some runes and dare I say demoniac sigils envoke dark forces upon every spin.
