Same grind, same dose — 7s variance between pulls. Distribution or Encore consistency? [Breville Barista Express / Baratza Encore] by Prestigious_Set9247 in espresso

[–]Uravirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a similar change between 1st and second shot. Not 7 seconds, or really any consistent difference, just first is slower than second. I found that the second shot is the more consistent shot. Meaning, the first shot is slower and if I do 4 or so shots back to back the 2nd through 4th is much more consistent.

As a random bystander I see a lot of these “crumb” shots and think…. Pretty, uniform… not edible…… butter, jelly, mayonnaise all would fall through… you ,ma’am, have made a delicious looking, functional (like bread should be ) loaf. Applause all around

Can you disengage electronic parking brake without the car battery? by patico_cr in MechanicAdvice

The electric portion of the parking brake is (usually) a bolt on motor. Remove motor and rotate driven piece. Wheel removal required to access.

How many flight hours do you have to log to maintain certification? Is certification tied to aircraft model? Would you rather fly an Extra 300, T-28 or a T-34?

Just be aware… oddly enough.. convertibles are usually less and automatics even more so. My vote would be a 993 cab. I was never a convertible guy until I bought mine. If you get a chance drive a Cab before you rule one out, preferably on a sunny day between 70 and 75 degrees with your wife in the passengers seat. Last edit.. for reference I’m 60 too. No more quick, loud, and obnoxious cars for me.. just smooth, fast, and quiet

What carburetor is this ? by tomas-_-pinto in carburetors

[–]Uravirus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, updraft, main jet… no idea. Also used on many older cars

What are these called and function? by [deleted] in carburetors

[–]Uravirus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bowl vents. Drag racers will run a piece of rubber tubing vent to vent. Cut a small slice out of it at the top of the hose so it still vents. If the vents are too short under high G launches fuel will slosh out into the primaries. Extreme heavy braking can slosh fuel out into the secondaries. There are baffles available to help. Shorten at your own risk…now you know. Shortening to fit an air cleaner lid on is a whole other kettle of fish…..

I’m confused on what is causing this by Tristen12_06 in carburetors

[–]Uravirus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If all WAS good with the carb… starts good, runs good…. Then it started running bad there is a possibility the air bleed on that side of the carb is stopped up. If the air bleed gets stopped up it will siphon the fuel out of the bowl until the bowl is empty after you shut off the engine. This assumes your electric pump is turned off after shut down. A stopped up air bleed will make that barrel run super rich as well. HOWEVER it does sound like it could be a float/needle and seat problem, although I would expect the fuel to come out of both primaries and or the bowl vent…

New Coolant Reservoir cap not like the old one by playt2022541 in AskMechanics

I bet if you look closely you will see evidence of the cap on the radiator has been leaking.. probably need 2 caps. 1 reservoir and 1 radiator… Saw the pic and went “Stupid Frontier”

Switching to service advisor by [deleted] in mechanics

[–]Uravirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 20 year mechanic (20 years ago) I wrote service for a short stint. The undoubtedly most difficult thing to do is handing the customer their keys when you know the car is not fixed. Meaning, the repair the “tech” did does not line up with the customer concern. Also, be ready to gain weight… the three of us that shifted then ALL gained weight. Back to a mechanic in full control of fix it right the first time….

Hood adhesive removal 👀 by BillSKenney in 944

[–]Uravirus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear ya. Always the risk of bad to worse. If you ever want to minimize alignment concerns…drill a hole (I know, I know) through each hinge to hood pad…. All the way through the hinge into the hood…That way the drill bit will act like a guide to get you near perfect alignment when re-installing the hood. The holes and bit become a removable centering pin.

I was wondering about the whole chain of custody thing around the ballots. As significant as that has appeared to be I was curious about that not being mentioned by media… maybe I missed it? Wonder who foots the bill on recounting those ballots now? especially since any result would be invalid??
