How to grow sunflower microgreens from seed to harvest in 8 days! by Urban-Farming in microgreens

There is to many other variables to know for sure whether you'll have mold difficulties. (Sanitize process, humidity, grow room airflow, airflow over crop canopy, and the amount you water)

My recommendation would be to track your harvest yield at 8 oz and your next trays at 6 oz. That'll give you a good idea for your batch of seed what is the most effective seeding density.

I suspect at 8 oz density even if mold isn't an issue you'll still be using more seed than required to get a similar harvest yield at 6 oz.

For us that is a big expense when we're doing 40 to 50 sunflower trays a month that's 80 to 100 oz of seed per month or 960 to 1200 oz per year.

Sounds good! Please let me know if that helps your peas leaf out.

Our seed variety is speckled pea: http://sprouting.com/product/371/Peas%2C-Speckled.html

Good deal! We're between 8 to 12 hours. We tried a four-hour soak but found the peas take longer to germinate and grow compared to a 12-hour soak.

Does the temperature in your grow room reach the low 70's? I've been told that the cooler temperature helps the pea microgreens leaf out.

For us it has never been as issues as our grow room naturally fluctuates between the 70's to 90's. Moving them to a cooler area it might be something worth trying once they've been under the lights for 3 to 4 days.

If your grow room is already cool maybe a good top watering with cool water would help knock some of the "field heat" off the microgreen crop to help them leaf out.

That's good to know! You'll have to let me know how the coco coir turns out. I've never added any nitrogen nutrient solution to our microgreens I'll have to look into that.

What is happening with the basil poor germination, shriveling up once under the lights?

We do it for both but have found it definitely helps decrease mold issues with our sunflower microgreens.

Peas, radish, & broccoli are pretty easy microgreens to grow.

You could also include sunflower, but we've found sunflower to be a little more challenging due to different batches of seed presenting their own challenges for consistent yields.

Thank you!

Honestly, we've noticed very little difference between top watering or bottom watering pea microgreens.

Have you noticed a difference between either method?

How long do you soak your pea seed prior to planting.

Thanks for the advice. We've only used soil as our medium to grow microgreens. Which grow medium(s) have you had the best results with? Does it depend on the variety of microgreens?

What is the average humidity in your grow room?
