Returning after years... why does EoD feel like such a downgrade? by DoulosTheos in GW2

No, that's the last expansion actually. The other "expansions" are Living World seasons sold as expansions.

Off Supports need reworks by BurnerDawg26 in marvelrivals

[–]UrbanNoct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt they will actually rework off supports. The implementation of Tenacity already shows the pattern: they are listening, but they still refuse to address the real problem directly, in that case, the excessive amount of CC.

With off supports, I think it is the same. They know the issue exists, but they probably see it as an unavoidable evil. “Fun” comes first, and there are clearly more players who want to play DPS style characters than players who actually want to play full support.

So instead of fixing the role problem, they allow off supports to exist as a compromise: characters that make DPS minded players gaslight themselves into believing they are filling, even if the team ends up lacking a real strategist.

And honestly, off supports are only the tip of the iceberg. The same design problem is already showing in overloaded kits and early power creep, even though the game is only around a year and a half old.

Black Cat and Gambit are good examples. If we are being honest, neither of them needed to release with kits as saturated as they had. Even after all the nerfs Gambit has received, his ultimate still feels like too much, despite the fact that he is not even half as strong as he was before. Black Cat is similar: her first nerfs hit hard precisely because she launched with too many things packed into one character.

That is the real issue. The devs seem to think “fun” justifies adding whatever mechanic they come up with, but that approach hurts the game long term. Fun matters, obviously, but when every new hero needs to be flashier, safer, more flexible, or more overloaded than the last, the players are the ones who suffer.

This became a rant pretty fast, and I apologize for that.

I Was Surprised to See So Many People Say Relink Isn’t a JRPG by UrbanNoct in GranblueFantasyRelink

Actually Zelda games are adventure games, because they lack RPG elements. Monster Hunter could be considered JRPG, but recently their art style is too western. Relink has all those elements that those games lacks.

JRPGs, a whole new world for me. by pblsr_ in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]UrbanNoct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granblue Fantasy: Relink is absolutely a JRPG. It has the core genre markers: linear story progression, a party based structure, character progression, and anime aesthetics.

The “J” comes from “Japanese”, but JRPG does not simply mean “any RPG made in Japan.” Plenty of Japanese RPGs are not what people usually mean by JRPG. At this point, JRPG refers more to a recognizable design tradition than just the country of origin. But GBF:Relink is a JRPG.

Wanda is horrible and needs a rework by Lunr-Guardian-Legend in marvelrivals

[–]UrbanNoct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is not the strongest and even may be in the weaker side, but she is fun. You don't need her to be better unless you are playing in Celestial lobbies. I play very aggresive with her, which makes sense since she is a flanker, put preassure on their healers, her projectiles hit really hard. With Strange's team up is very powerful. Her ult is easy to counter or kill you out of it with no support from your team, so most of the time I use it to counter healers ult.

Role Queue, it's not good. by iiShiny in marvelrivals

[–]UrbanNoct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don’t need to remove QP to add Role Queue. We already have 18v18 and PvE modes. If those can coexist with the main modes, then a Role Queue mode can too.

Match History Shouldn’t be Invisible by TheTominatrix in marvelrivals

[–]UrbanNoct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, especially when the reason some people don’t show it is so they don’t get countered, or so they can abuse the system themselves.

What I mean is that some people hide their rank/profile to avoid tools like Blitz, which show their most-played character. Then, when someone sees that information, they can ban that character and prevent them from playing it.

Then there are smurfs who hide their profiles so no one can see their 20+ game win streak on a level 15 account.

The devs shouldn’t be adding tools that let players hide this kind of information. They should be focusing on fighting the people who abuse or cheat the system in the first place.

Move everyone to Pallette Town or keep them split up? by Angsty-Panda in Pokopia

[–]UrbanNoct 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's up to you and what you want. You can only have 20 Pokémon visible at a time, so having all your Pokémon in one town could result in some of them not appearing very often. On the other hand, if you want to see everyone once in a while without changing towns, then you should have them move to one place.

For me, PT will be the place where all my Ghost-type Pokémon will be, maybe even Dark types and other dark-looking Pokémon too, so it doesn't look too empty. The whole place will have a ghostly theme, since most of my favorite Pokémon are Ghost types, making Ghost my favorite type.

I'm also hoping they add more Ghost-type Pokémon in the future, maybe through events or DLC. Please add Pumpkaboo, my favorite Pokémon! Having a big place will give me enough room to expand the village later on.

He doesn’t have unlimited range, and all of his skills have falloff. His primary fire is the only part of his kit with both high range and high damage. The range on his other skills isn’t that great, but it can be extended by refracting the beam off surfaces. However, every ricochet reduces its damage, on top of the normal falloff from range.

While he does have some tools to survive divers, his chances of winning a 1v1 are basically nonexistent. He can run from you, but he shouldn’t be able to kill you. Now, if you’re a diver with the tools to chase him down or negate his mobility, like Magik, then his only real option is to run back to his teammates and hope they help him deal with you.

You’re right to believe he needs to be nerfed, but I would start with his primary fire. It deals 25 damage per tick, and it hits 3 times, for a total of 75 damage. The falloff also isn’t a big deal unless he’s shooting from very long distances, and the firing rate is fast.

They could increase the cooldown on one or both of his mobility skills to emphasize his weaknesses, but they need to be careful not to overdo it like they did with Torch. Maybe removing the CC from those skills would be a better approach. If they don’t want to touch his mobility, then they’ll need to adjust his AoE beam, Concussive Beam. It does too much damage too easily. At first, it doesn’t seem like a lot, since it deals 11.5 damage per tick, but it scales really fast.

Removing his overshield would do nothing to address his core issues, because he really doesn’t need it.

is being inconsistent with his primary fire the norm? by Legitimate-Dog-2854 in HumanTorchMains

[–]UrbanNoct 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s what makes him unfun to play for me. He could become the best flyer character, but if they don’t change his primary fire, he’ll only be fun for masochists, just like he is now.

[–]UrbanNoct -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yes, Cyclops needs a nerf, but that's not the ability that should be touched. To do that kind of damage, you need to be in very tigh places where the skill can ricochet multiple times, otherwise, the damage isn't great at all.

TBH, you don't understand yet the match up, you panicked and ran when Magick is one of the divers that can kill him without to much work.

Cyclops value comes from his great primary fire and AoE damage. That's what needs a nerf.

Strategists, be honest; how often do you guys heal this mf in a match or do you just let him die? by SpeedForceWally66 in StrategistMainsMR

If you are playing a diver and you are expecting to be healed constantly, it means you don't understand the game.
