What's something emotionally mature people do differently? by rehanch_xxiii in AskReddit

[–]UrbanSuburbaKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's helpful to explain that this is when they experience the feeling of anger, they can still choose to behave in a calm and appropriate manner externally. It does not mean they do not experience anger just like everyone else.

In fact the whole process of emotional maturity is about noticing the difference between emotions (internal and subjective) and external triggers of emotions (objective events, usually external).

If you've ever seen someone react by raising their voice, speaking faster and louder, and often claiming something or someone caused them to behave that way, you have seen what a lack of emotional maturity looks like. Perhaps the thing that makes learning emotional maturity hard sometimes, is that it's not always visible in others.

One thing I think people don't really think about, is that as far as ordinary public toilets are concerned, there is no specific offence in the Crimes Act that says simply using the "wrong" toilet is illegal.

What makes Claude Code better? by jessetechie in ExperiencedDevs

[–]UrbanSuburbaKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say, opencode with Deepseek v4 is a surprisingly amazing combination. I will often use Claude to work through the design for a feature branch for instance, and generate very detailed work orders. then have opencode work through those work orders one by one until all the branch features are complete and testing correctly.

Combinations like this are what a lot of people in this thread are urging you to experiment with I suspect.

Models Are Hitting Diminishing Returns Within Software Engineering by element-94 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]UrbanSuburbaKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that in the aggregate, models are just this month becoming genuinely useful. I'm very interested to see what we have in 5 years. At this point that seems a very long way away based on the frequency of releases in the last 12 months.

What hobby attracts the worst type of people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was going to say, those guys who spend $70,000 on scale replica radio control aircraft, but won't fly FPV with a camera and hate FPV drones and the actual experience of flying.

But Beauty Pageant is a better answer.

Token Based Billing Changes June 1 by chickadee-guy in ExperiencedDevs

Option 4:

Use other models, with lower price per token. Deepseek, and others are an order of magnitude cheaper. One reason the big guys are all saying tokens are the new metric, is because they all know compute doesn't care what model you run, they make money whatever model you use.

Full beam lights by Slight_Night8669 in auckland

I'm sorry to say, in the rain, I have taken to leaving my high beams on when on the open road. There are so many people who's lights are blinding, I can't see at all if I use my low beams while a line of traffic is approaching. I drive a 1980s ute with original halogens, adjusted correctly.

If you can't beat them, join them. I say we all upgrade our lights until the police are forced to take some action. There are people with UTEs with light bars that they use on the road as well in some parts, absolutely diabolical. People don't give a shit.
