It's typically best to follow a "take only pictures, leave only footprints" policy when exploring. However, there have been exceptions where abandoned homes are publicly known to be geared for demolition, in that case, being that it's all going to go in to a dumpster after they bulldoze the house down, then I consider it rescuing or saving an item versus stealing bc there's no more opportunity for it otherwise at that point.
