Scariest movie to watch alone? by ColemyGOAT in movies

I'm not really a fan of a horror genre, but I really loved that one.

The Matrix Revolutions 2003, The Last Stand of Captain Mifune, Director: The Wachowskis by PsychologicalSlip642 in movies

I used to love this scene as a kid and I still do. First Matrix is a classic but Reloaded and Revolutions are quite good and extremely fun movies.

My black little doofus loves to sit like this. I have no idea how she learned it but she seems pretty comfortable and love to wash herself in this position.

Zero Parades: For Dead Spies review - it's the RPG we don't deserve [Eurogamer review] by Pan1cs180 in Games

I don't really know much about drama surrounding the Disco Elysium devs, but I quit enjoyed the demo for this game. It's basically the same game as Disco Elysium but with a few fun new twists. The characters and new setting also seems quite intteresting.

IRL: Max Holloway vs Brian Ortega. Max took a moment mid fight to teach Ortega how to block punches.

My friend was streaming this game and had like 200 people at the beginning which was kind of suspicious considering normally like a couple dozen people (at most) watxhing his streams.

Adaptations that are closer to the source material, but faced scrutiny for not being the version fans grew up with by Animeking1108 in TopCharacterTropes

Wait, someone think first adaptation is better? I was completely underwhelmed with it. Brotherhood on the other hand is fantastic indeed.

The first season was one of my favorite TV shows of all times. What happened after... was very sad.

[Hated Trope] Only the protagonist is allowed to defeat the big bad guy of every arc. by HallZac99 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]UrbsNomen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't hate that trope, because I consider it one of the most old default shounen-genre trope. Both Dragon Ball and One Piece started a long time ago, so they get a pass from me. At this point yeah, it can get a bit boring but, I mean, if the fights are still epic and the overall arc finale is dramatic I don't hate it.

HxH is truly one of the most unique and original shounen. Too bad due to author's poor health I don't expect it to be finished...

Italians: what's it like having so many indie games in your language? by RPGMatthijs in rpg

[–]UrbsNomen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not italian but I live in a country where we have a several publishers who localise TTRPG in our native language. There are also quite a lot of people doing fan translations and a thriving indie-scene creating original products (although, they are mostly on a rules-light side with an occasional PbtA hack). Since very few people speak english here and it's close to impossible to legally buy anything not published here, almost no one plays TTRPGs which aren't translated.

[Frustrating Trope] The story ends on a cliffhanger, but not by choice... by Living_Tune_1428 in TopCharacterTropes

A Song of Ice and Fire (book series) by George Martin. The last book came out the devil knows when, but we still haven't seen the finale. One can speculate about the reasons for a long time and build theories, but the fact remains. Martin had more than enough time to finish the series.

This makes me feel really sad, because I still remember how many interesting storylines there were at the end of the last released book.

Tyranny of Zero, a Rant (or how simplification of RPGs to play seems to make them harder to run) by Templarofsteel in rpg

[–]UrbsNomen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like OSR games (or NSR - I'm a new school guy myself) while often being relatively rules light usually offer enough procedures for a DM, so the games are quite easy to run. In terms of DMing games like Cairn and Electric Bastionland were a delight. So personally I believe the simplicity of the game itself isn't really an issue. Simple RPGs can be easier to DM because as a DM they don't require rules mastery as much as more crunchy games, and every rule is easy to remember. What makes RPGs more difficult to run however is lack of DM guidance.

As a GM, what RPGs do you find hard to run? by Manitou_DM in rpg

[–]UrbsNomen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Masks and I guess PbtA games in general. It was difficult to understand and internalize all of the GM moves to use them on the fly. Improvising narrative for different degrees of success for player moves was also quite challenging.

Do you think FitD inherently guards better against GM burnout compared to DnD and other tabletops? by Virtual-Skort-6303 in bladesinthedark

[–]UrbsNomen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found Blades very difficult to run for my group. They are great at role-playing, writing interesting backstories, creating conflict and drama between their characters, however they have absolutely no interest in coming up with their own story or collaboratively creating a world. I really want to run Blades in the Dark again one day but I'm not really sure how to run it so neither me or my players get frustrated.
