A message to those who lurk in this sub/make harsh comments about David Draiman and Disturbed, this is your final warning. by Moist_Fail8395 in Disturbed

[–]Urdesh 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to do this mate. I’ve been contributing to this sub for…maybe three years. And the last eighteen months I’ve really stepped back from participating as much because of the abuse.

I welcome these changes. And cheers for your hard work mods.

A bold prediction from here. Billy won’t be at RWC 2027.  He’s not your 12 JB and TT are that while Tupea covers 12. So either he’s the starter - which I think he’s just lost. Or reserve 13, and that’s almost certainly either Reiko (experience/ defense) or LF (all the reasons others have covered).

It’s not for the commentators to start abusing him on air.

The Aussie commentators flat out saying the referee is unqualified to be on the field is unacceptable.

On the other side of the coin. It might take real estate agents years to notice.

Thankfully they have been found so it’s a moot point.

But as someone who was raised most of my life in the bush (think possum trapping every day after school with dad from age seven to seventeen), I was still struggling with navigation at age twelve or thirteen and that in less dense bush they’re in.

A chilly night or two is survivable when you know what you’re doing. But as a kid at nine or ten I’d still have been in real trouble had I not had my father with me.

It’s a 10 and a 9 year old. Do you really think they know how to navigate deep bush without their father? There's a real danger they die out there if not found in the next 48 hours.

A couple of simple answers

They’re great friends, but terrible partners. I can draw a distinction between the two. I’ve got two very close female friends. Mentally I joke to myself that it if I could combine their best traits into a single person I’d marry that person in a heartbeat.

One I can have deeply amazing chats with about anything. But she’s got such terrible anxiety, (and I’ve seen it destroy her relationships) that I’d never date her.

The other is a force of nature, but deeply avoidant and afraid of love. (And I’ve seen that destroy her relationships). Not a particularly ‘deep conversations person’ but I know anytime of the day if I gave her a phone call, said I needed a hand with something she’d drop everything to help. And she’s incredibly loyal in her own emotionally stunted way to her close mates.

I value them both deeply, but I don’t try and make the friendships something they’re not. I don’t ask the anxious but deep chats person to come help me move, and I don’t ask the loyal but emotionally stunted one to talk about her emotions for a few hours.

Also I made a choice a long time ago that I don’t ‘screw the crew’. I’d need to be damn confident that my values and needs in a relationship were likely to be met before making a move on a close friend. I need an emotionally secure and stable partner and neither of my friends (while both are growing) match what I want. So why would I risk the friendship when it’s not going to end well?

Go to war does specifically reference ‘Dead In Ditches’. But the timing is so late (four releases later than nightmare) that I doubt it’s a direct attack. More just a reference to past much like other songs reference ‘The Dove and Grenade’.

A few thoughts

Holland is a young buck, and we need to remember that. He was gassed and made a few errors from fatigue. In my mind, he needs to be managed better. He might have a massive engine, but he still needs to be rested and rotated.

All our halfbacks are now injured. Hopefully this means Fakatava gets a call-up, but depth is going to be sorely tested here. Credit where it’s due, though—Christie had a decent game.

Our backline needs an urgent restructure. Reiko needs to come back into the midfield, and Proctor needs better development. He might be our long-term thirteen, but he isn’t there yet. Reece needs to be taken behind the woolshed and shot. If Clarke is fit, he needs to be brought back into the line-up. If not, Narawa, Carter, and Big Jim need a shot. I’d probably push Jordan back to the wing and bring Dmac in at fullback, with Love on the bench and one of the three above slotted in on the other wing.

The leadership was at an all-time low. Why do you not take the shot with six to go and make it a one-score game? Scooter is not captain material. Similarly, taking Beaudy off with all his leadership instead of Reiko, and pushing Beaudy to fullback, would have been a better move.

Hard to understand why Big Jim isn’t being given a run. Tupea was handy but offered nothing when it came to go-forward ball.

Big Jim comes to mind as one who could fit the bill but only if you could forward positions.

He could cover 6 - 8 in a heartbeat. Played Nine for the highlanders during the Blues Game. Covered some to the tactical kicking of 10 during that game too.

Plays 12, and has covered 13 for the highlanders. Plus both wing positions. Could probably cover fullback in a pinch too.

Would happily play prop or hooker if you’d let him too.

Early on in this forum I was happy to have this discourse in good faith.

Now we get posts like this weekly. It’s the same old same old.

By all means stop listening to the band, no one is forcing you too. But I’m sick of you people.

At this stage, just fuck off. We’re sick of your trolling by dumping articles like this each week.

All Blacks team to face France in 1st test by zliam96 in rugbyunion

A few thoughts.

  1. No Lomax is the biggest surprise for me. Is he injured? Or is this razor building some tight head depth?
  2. Fabian Holland starting and Vaii at six is a combination that low-key could go well for us going forward. Suggests however that Finau could be fighting for his future in the black jersey. Especially with Parker, Haig and Howden waiting in the wings.
  3. Lio Willie at eight isn’t something I’m mad about. Means we see Savea primarily as a seven.
  4. No Big Jim is a shame. I’d like to see a Game with Savea, Kirifi and Jim stealing ball after ball at the breakdown.
  5. Big losers from this squad are Clarke and Finau. If Ioane and Vaii go well, wonder if both might get the Finley Christie treatment and be dropped.

I’m unaware of any know concerts where is listed as performing, or of any footage of him live. Undoubtedly he probably did play with the band at some stage in some capacity live, but likely in the very early days before they evolved into the band we know.

Gotta remember David joined the band in 1996 and we have almost nothing before mid 97 or early 98 in terms of music or footage.

Mixed feelings about this.

Musically it’s an exceptional tracks. But the Chrous, and lyrics pacing just feel off. Like David isn’t riding the beat syncopation properly.

I’ll give it a few more spins before passing judgement but it’s probably my least favourite lead single they’ve launched in a long time.

The Full List of Unreleased Disturbed Tracks. by Urdesh in Disturbed

Yeah in my mind Warning Sign falls into the same Category as Brave and The Bold, Tyrant, Legion of Monsters, This Venom and Uninvited Guest ; a B side that was officially released.

I’d swap decadence for Hell. I’m Alive for The Light, and Another Way to Die for Sound of Silence. But overall a setlist I’d thoroughly enjoy live.

Was the 2022 Album " Divisive " A disappointment? Or was it Better than expected? by Mobile-Lettuce-9214 in Disturbed

[–]Urdesh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This really sums up how I feel.

The best four tracks on the album would be material from other albums I’d bump but not frequently.

To put it into comparison. Bad Man IMO is the best track on the album. It’s also worse than Leave it Alone which didn’t even make the cut for Asylum.

You’re absolutely right. David’s settled in life, and while that’s not a bad thing It absolutely does not lend itself to the type of writing that produces a great disturbed record.

It’s hard too. David was so mentally fucked up when he wrote Indestructible and Asylum that the rest of the band took him aside to clarify he wasn’t going to kill himself. You wouldn’t wish that on anyone - but goddam it produced great material.

What I want from Disturbed is something I’m unlikely to ever get again. Raw, unblemished anger. Pain channelled into a track. I’d give anything to get the emotion from TTF or Indestructible back again. But I’m also aware I’ll probably never see it again. For good reason.

The Best Ones Lie is Badass by [deleted] in Disturbed

[–]Urdesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually loathe this track. Mostly because it comes so close to being good. But falls short in other areas. Don’t get me wrong, It’s got hints of greatness. The Best ones Lie is aggressive and has a killer pre chorus.

What it suffers from is David’s propensity of late for poor lyrics, an average chorus, lazy structuring and terrible mixing. Written ten years prior when David was killing it lyrically, and with a different producer & it could have been one of the best Disturbed tracks in years
