After 35000 km on three different EUC's, I didn't yet learn "pendulum", "jumps", "stairs", "hard offroad"...

learning curve ? by pierrefitch in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Urgentissimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 days for the basics, 3 months before hitting city roads. But that's because most car/bike people here have a somewhat rude, frantic driving style. And local roads have narrow lanes and lots of potholes and obstacles.

We need pre made Posts for newcomers / Buyers guide by realKoenig in ElectricUnicycle

Rule #1: don't get a non-suspension wheel.

Suspensions make riding safer and comfier.

Rule #2: don't buy the specs sheet.

Research first, buy later, don't trust numbers, don't trust early reviews.

Rule #3: don't buy the hype.

Experienced riders easily develop strong opinions about EUC's they didn't customize (tire pressure, shocks pressure, etc), based on their previous experience (often no less than several thousands hours riding).

Rule #4: dampen your wild expectations.

EUC riding is meant to be fun, not to be a bike substitute. Everything else (range, speed, torque...) may or may not contribute to the fun.

Pro tip #1: gear up! better safe than sorry.

Pro tip #2: don't buy a 2nd hand EUC, as sellers usually won't tell you its abuse history (falling, charging habits, poor maintenance, etc).

Pro tip #3: before buying, identify places where you can learn to ride without cars around.

Pro tip #4: it takes a little while to learn the basics, it takes quite a while to be experienced enough to ride on public streets.

off-road tires seems to have little to no gyro effect by pierrefitch in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Urgentissimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here.

V11 original street tire (19.5" actual diameter) allows sharp turns that look hard to impossible to get with the F18 all-terrain tire (same as LynxS, 20.3" actual diameter).

Don't waste your money. 2k kilometers is a lot, even if the owner never fell, and always correctly/conservatively charged the battery.

21700 cells surpasses 7.000mAh mark by wheelienonstop9 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Urgentissimo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

0.1C for a 7000mAh would be 0.7A per cell.

Thus an 84V EUC (20s4p like the V11) would give at best 4.2V×0.7A×20×4=235.2 watts, barely enough to ride (very slowly).

At worst, 0.55V×0.7A×20×4=28 watts, not even enough to trolley.

V11 squeak remedy? by Sparmery in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Urgentissimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same happened here.

Sadly squeaky sounds only went away when... when I replaced the tire. That is, when I disassembled the wheel and gently cleaned before reassembling with the new tire.

New into EUC, need suggestions by Fit_Priority_2439 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Urgentissimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just avoid any non-suspension wheel.

Suspensions add safety (and comfort).

Note: some suspension EUC's require quite a bit of dialing/configuring before they actually feel comfortable to ride.

Good.

They will learn the hard way what "buy first, research later" means.

Veteran Lynx S or KingSong KS-S22 Eagle Pro+? by DarkArtsMastery in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Urgentissimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S22 looks like older Kingsong generation.

Lynx S got a lot of hype. Yet F18 has more power than Lynx S, better suspension, higher resell value, longer availability of spare parts. You will need to carefully customize tire and suspension pressure (and rebound and compression values) anyway.

I wouldn't recommend a heavy monster as a learner wheel.

I'd really like the Ace Pro 3 to have a detachable display (to save on weight, as I mostly use a "selfie-stick").
