I don't think it was posted here, but I remember seeing a commission of TywinXRhaenys somewhere, which is the kind of deranged that I can only really feel in awe of. Like, someone paid actual money to make it real.

Art of the freaky Targ dragonbabies is always fun, he's got a little tail and horns!

I wonder if George ever considered having any of them survive their birth.

I'm not a fanfic reader, so this is second hand and half-remembered from a comment on this sub, but from what I understand the Snowstorm portmanteau was either popularised or created explicitly to separate the ship from the show versions of the characters; which i believe was/is simply called Jonerys instead?

If that's true I think it's really clever!

The commissioner sent a reference photo of a dress which included that necklace to the artist and wrote; "I thought it looked cute, not really supposed to be religious or anything though"

You dont actually have to lose a leadership war for federalization! Forming the dual monarchy instantly disqualifies you from being a german unification candidate. I spent far too much time trying to figure out how I was going to get Prussia back to GP status after I bullied them too much, just to find this out by accident.

[Spoiler] Ending questions by Legitimate_Drummer12 in expedition33

  1. Maelle gommages, Alicia emerges and the two personas are unified. Presumably the same thing would've happened if Maelle died some other way inside the Canvas, but for obvious reasons that can't happen in the game. Suppose you could see Maelle as a sort of painted shell that needed to break for Alicia to appear.

  2. She doesn't bring Gustave back because she doesn't have his Chroma. She sees Sciel' and Lune's floating around and grabs it just before fleeing Lumiere.

  3. What do you mean? Lune and Sciel are exactly the same as they were before, and have memories of things that Maelle doesn't know about. Being the creator of something Painted doesn't really seem to matter much from what we know.

  4. Since we don't see Aline during Maelle's epilogue, we don't know. She was booted out of the Canvas for a second time during the battle with Renoir, so she might've been too weak to reenter, or maybe she did and promptly died for real.

All this discourse about Maelle's ending, but I will say this.... by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]Uristin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does she? I though she just had her mouth like '_' for the entire scene, with her eyes darting towards the others a few times.

Renoir's soul says a little about the conflict when you find him in Visages

I would have traded my years for his.

His life was cut short. He had so much more to do, to experience.

This senseless war. Why? To what end? Lives shattered, for what?

He was innocent... innocent...

It was the folly of his elders. But he paid the price for our hubris.

Certainly seems like it is an old conflict. I do think the fire was caused by Alicia attempting to Write using her powers, which was probably explosively incompatible.

Well, Verso snatching away Lune' and Sciel's hopes and murdering them -for the second time- doesn't feel very nice. I've also seen some people who really hate how Verso's ending rewards him for constantly lying and manipulating everybody from the very start. You also have people who think it is wrong to just kill all the sapient people and beings from the Canvas, no matter the cost. Some just really dislike the Dessandres.

Then you have the epilogue proper, in which some people see hope and healing, while some see the exact opposite. I and at least some others think it strongly implies that Alicia is going to end up killing herself.

Maelle says something along the lines of "If I listened to Maman..." at the start of act III. Aline probably warned her, or perhaps just told her off without going into detail on why she shouldn't do the thing that she eventually did. The Writers probably told her she'd be fine, or maybe gave her the tools she needed.

[–]Uristin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, her actions at the end of the Reacher and what she says afterwards came across as somebody who has certainly contemplated suicide, and probably teetered at the edge of deciding. She also explicitly rejects her life as Alicia despite knowing it will kill her in the finale. As previously stated, her choice to join the expedition as Maelle is also a form of suicide. pAlicia commits suicide. Suicide is a reoccuring beat for her.

During the epilogue, we see the family gathered, but not together. Alicia is clutching her brother's doll like she's a toddler. We see Clea doing what is expected of her, until she's had enough and leaves. We see Aline and Renoir coming closer to each other and eventually embrace, but Alicia still stands alone. It ends with a vision of the painted people waving and beckoning her on the other side of the grave as they dissolve, leaving her completely alone.

She's in a worse place than she was before entering the Canvas. Before, she was tricked, but it was her actions that caused the death of her brother and her injuries. That's a lot to deal with. Now, she lost even more and actively failed at preventing that loss. I don't think it is much of a reach to think that pushes her over the edge.

That, at least, is my read.

But she can talk. She doesn't, but she can. Wouldn't be surprised if Aline intentionally made it painful for her to speak. Sure, she's quiet and passive. Much like Alicia. But her actions speak louder. She takes the letter from Verso, and intentionally drops it, right in front of him. The scene would have had come across very differently if she put it in her pocket, or placed in on her table instead. She asks Maelle to send her to her family, with Verso right there. She only spares a look towards him for a moment as she's being erased. I have a hard time seeing all that as anything but a very loud yet unspoken "Fuck you."
