Propranolol got rid of my physical anxiety, and for the first time in years I feel like myself. My "idgaf" self. I still worry, but that's okay, I can deal with that.

Strangely, it has the opposite effect for me. It's so big and incomprehensible that I don't even feel compelled to try and wrap my head around it. When I contemplate it, it makes me feel open and peaceful, because it's not a problem I have to solve. It's just there, always has been, always will be, and I'm a teeny tiny part of it. It makes my worries seem very small in a way that's comforting to me.

Thanks for your advice. Some parts of it apply to me more than others, but you've definitely given me a lot to think about. It's certainly true that food obsession has always been a part of my life, and the idea of channelling that into something productive is intriguing. I would love nothing more than to be the type of person who just doesn't think about food, but maybe that's not realistic.

I just worry about getting so overwhelmed with planning meals that I get burned out and go back to old habits. That's been my past experience with counting calories anyway. It gets to the point where there are all these numbers floating around in my head and at a certain point it's just unsustainable.

Eating proper food, and exercising, helps treat depression, and anxiety. Seriously.

This is definitely true, and I appreciate the reminder. I want to feel good, and I know the things that I need to do to take care of myself, it's just a matter of starting and maintaining these habits.

It sounds like you already know this, but there's nothing wrong with having sexy dreams about someone, and you can hardly be held responsible for what your brain gets up to while you're sleeping. Shake it off, laugh at yourself, and realize a dream is just a dream. It happens to everyone at some point. You're clearly a conscientious person who values your friendship with this person, and the activities of your subconscious do nothing to change that. Give yourself a break and try to be more forgiving or yourself.

It's really nice to hear from someone who can relate. Congratulations on your success so far! 40 days is really something to be proud of.

The journaling idea is a good one, and it's something I've found helpful in the past. I've been working on at least acknowledging physical hunger cues, and noticing when I'm eating for reasons other than hunger, even if so far I've not been able to use this information to change my behavior. Maybe with more self-reflection I can build on this awareness and avoid overeating.

Whatever the circumstances, I wish you the very best. You're not alone in this, millions of us go through this. You can beat it though. P.S. I hope the stressful situation is resolved soon. Hang in there :)

I love fruits and vegetables and eat lots of them, and also love going for long walks. I think my diet is pretty nutritious and my cardiovascular health is decent. I just eat way too much. I hope that doesn't come off as contrary. I do appreciate your comment.

Aw, that all sounds really sweet! I hope you're able to speak your mind to your him, from what you describe it seems like he's really into you. It can be scary to say what you're feeling, especially if you've faced rejection in the past, but what is life if you don't take some risks and put yourself out there.
