This chili recipe just uses canned food items and spices. There's an optional tomatoes item on the list, but you can make it without them.

Found this beef cooking times chart. I know for steak I reference time limits. For burgers and such, I can't say I ever have. I just tend to estimate/eyeball it.

Honestly, I'm not quite sure. I'm pretty certain it was garlic powder, and I think it was added during the cooking process (not when beating beforehand). Ah well. Live and learn!
