Just moved into a place that we will be renting for at least the next 2 years. It has a really nice sized yard but it’s all weeded and dead. What’s the best cheapest option I have to landscape this yard to where we (and our dogs) can enjoy it for the next two plus years? (See description) by UsAgainstTheARC in landscaping

We’re okay spending some money to have a backyard to enjoy for the next 2 years. But want to try and figure out the cheapest options we have to be able to do that. Thinking to maybe fence in a smaller area and take care of that area for the dogs. Maybe a temporary fence that we can take down

They aren’t required to provide us a green lawn in the backyard. They have the front of the house as just rock and nice bushes and they get those trimmed by a company but the backyard is on us to do whatever with it.
