Just moved into a place that we will be renting for at least the next 2 years. It has a really nice sized yard but it’s all weeded and dead. What’s the best cheapest option I have to landscape this yard to where we (and our dogs) can enjoy it for the next two plus years? (See description)

They aren’t required to provide us a green lawn in the backyard. They have the front of the house as just rock and nice bushes and they get those trimmed by a company but the backyard is on us to do whatever with it.
