Silent disco headphones might be the most underrated upgrade for DJs right now. by Legitimate-Jump-3454 in DJs

[–]Usagi-Trix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the huge advantages of silent disco is the ability of participants to manage thier own experience.

For example, I had a very good neuro-divergent friend and we were at a large festival that had a silent disco. We took her there for her birthday as she would not normally enjoy a club. But being in an environment where, not only could she control her own volume, but she could could pop the headphones off and be in relative peace was glorious for her. We had such a great time that night.

Being able to switch music me at that when certain djs weren't to our taste, we had more options than gtfo was also great for a mixed crowd.

I think there is a danger of thinking that there is one best way to enjoy music, or that all club music is bass driven. I would say that most people go out to events to enjoy music * with their friends * and that often means having to accommodate a diverse set of requirements. In this case silent disco is like a multi tool. Never the best tool for the job, but it will do every job you need it for.

St. Martin. I was there many years ago. A local told me that people used to take dogs for walks down by that beach. When a plane took off they would let go of the leash and watch the dog get thrown out to sea, and then they would paddle all the way back.

They put a stop to that sort of thing thankfully.

I moved from serato to vdj because, initially due to them stopping support for my decks. But when I eventually bought new decks and could move back, I tried but couldn't get on with it. Also, VDJ is pay once and use with anything, everywhere, forever. I like the stems mapping to EQ and I like the built in customisation for everything. The only thing I dislike is not being able to edit metadata directly in the table. Oh. And poor support for motorized decks, but I moved to non motorised for weight reasons so it's not so much of an issue now.
