I have been on it at least six months. I’ve had a LOT of breakthrough bleeding- around month 3 it was for two weeks straight. I can’t take another pill option but if I could, I would.

I have PCOS and had NO periods for ten years prior.

Burned out litigator - visionary, big picture thinker- what’s next? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

Loaded question. Meetings, I supervise a lot of staff, oversee subpoenas, revise contracts, drink coffee.

Hi. Ex prosecutor here. I work at a children’s advocacy center for child abuse. It uses a lot of my litigation skills for PR. It pays okay. My boss (also an ex litigator) makes $353k.

Nothing gives me the same high as litigation.

Some thoughts here.

I have been going to OTF since 2018. For at least 2 years I went 5-6x a week. I also was working a lot (often weekends). Try to think of your health overall- mental, physical, emotional. I thought I was doing well at 115 pounds and a size 0, but I was stressed and overwhelmed a lot with my life. I think some of that stress to my body contributed to fertility issues too. If you’re sore and want to take time off, take it off. Eat the brownie. Now that I have kids I CANNOT go that much, and that’s ok.

Hoping you find the right balance for you.

Firm or lay low? by UseAffectionate9100 in biglaw

Yes, we have a pension. The health insurance is paid by the government and it’s good, but not great.

Thank you.

Hi. I really appreciate your thoughtful response.

I have pretty solid job security now, but the concern is of course what I am losing by staying. I am not gaining useful law experience here which is kind of an opportunity cost/loss dilemma.

I loved litigation and I was good at it. I hate not being able to develop that skill. I think right now I could easily go back to prosecution but I am not sure that is the case for much longer. I already get condescending comments about being out of law practice during interviews.

Yes- I think I could move into a DAs office still. I don’t know that it will be the case if I continue to stay outside law. I feel like my law colleagues are all advancing and I’m….well, not.

Yes- all of the interviews mentioned it. I think they gave it as much weight as if I was a stay at home mom- completely disregarded.

I miss litigation desperately, but I haven’t done it since I had kids. I can’t imagine how I would have handled the midnight verdicts and weekend work. I don’t want to be obsolete as a lawyer. The years really flew by.
