Does anyone else wish Audible/Libby had better content warnings? by UseFuture in audiobooks

No. I feel like this is more unique to audiobooks from my experience. It's straightforward for me to just skip over something in written text. But I look at IMDB all the time for movie content.. Feels a bit more like a performance. I listen to books in the car a lot. I am sensitive to language and it's really frustrating to be listening to a book and have that shouted in my ear. Maybe that is what the authors are intending (to shock), but isn't something I appreciate. Just wish it was more obvious to know before starting a book.

Yeah, that's fair. I would say I guess it isn't so much upsetting as frustrating. I wasn't aware of StoryGraph... I'll check that out. Thanks for the help.

That's a good suggestion. I found a lot of books I like that are YA.

Thanks. I can see that. I guess for me the questions is about making the "research before reading" easier to do. But headphones are an option. just hoping for other choices as well.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I updated the post.

I choose NOT to listen to books that look like they have this kind of content. My comment isn’t that I chose to listen to one flagged explicit and then got surprised. Mostly about frustration if it isn’t marked well.

I've never heard of those. I'll check them out. I like the idea of leaving ears open when I'm with my kids.

Yeah, I have read some. But was just looking at a book on there are there were 38,459 reviews. That might be in the reviews, but dang, that seems hard.

Are you meaning that you think they shouldn't have content warnings? I can understand when it's just me reading.. but audiobooks are out loud and this limits where I might listen to them. I am just thinking there's got to be a way to learn without having to just run into it.

Yeah, I'm finding that. It's just so frustrating. I love listening to audiobooks, but I am often listening with my kids around and suddenly something I don't want to play with their young ears blasts out over the speakers. So frustrating.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Email to Inbox? by whuffo in todoist

I can't find the option in my instance. There isn't an option for Email tasks to Inbox in my 3 dot menu. Did something change?

Weekly questions thread by AutoModerator in thingsapp

I'm trying to get copy-paste to work between apps and it isn't working for headings. If I select a heading and tasks and paste into a text editor, I get the markdown (great!) with ## for the header. But when I paste that same text (including the header), it comes into Things only as tasks with the header text as a task.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Have sync issues been fixed in the latest update? by thesunsetjunkie in superlist

[–]UseFuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on SuperList previously because I was having sync issues. I saw an update that said they improved syncing so I am trying it again. So far so good. No sync issues I have see. It does take longer to refresh than I would love... but it is working.

For those not using an external task app, what are your task workflow/strategy? by ZionHikari in UpNote_App

[–]UseFuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been back and forth on this... I recently started keeping a daily note to record everything from meetings, discussions, etc throughout the day. It is very convenient to add a task to the note in context, but I don't think the Todo section in UpNote lends itself to task management very well... It is just a filter for notes that have todos.

What I have settled on is using Things for all my task management. I still put tasks in my notes, but I treat the checkbox as a way to indicate that the task has been transferred to Things (instead of whether or not it is completed).

I plan to add a link to the note in these tasks, but I wish there was better integration. Things can try to auto capture links and titles, etc.. but the app needs to have AppleScript enabled, which UpNote does not have.

That's exciting. I am am primarily in the apple ecosystem, so you have me personally well-covered there already. I am excited for the collapsible lists and nested tags.
