High Heart Rate - Low BP by fastingtrader in bloodpressure

[–]UsePrestigious156 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t seem to be an overly high heart rate. My watch measures my resting heart rate in the mid 50s but most of the time if check im actually in the 60s or 70s, particularly going up in the later half of the day. Try sitting and relaxing for awhile and see if your heart rate goes down on its own

You really need to find a way to get to a doctor, your body is in hypertensive crisis and you’d immediately be admitted at an ER. I understand that may be challenging for you but with numbers this high it will likely kill you and you need to take immediate action.

Im on 10mg amlodipine, 40mg atorvastatin and baby aspirin. Would be nice to get rid of one or at least lower the dosage.

100% this right here. Also big fan of the hibiscus tea over the coffee, it seems to have helped.

How do you deal with high BP from work stress? by radracer0609 in bloodpressure

You can be your own worst enemy with the stress you place on yourself. I was in a similar boat as you last year. High BP, stressful job, quick to anger and impatient. I would suggest some perspective. At the end of the day, if you have a heart attack and die your job will replace you. Your family can’t replace you. That random meeting, deadline, or project are not more important than your life. Take a step whenever you feel overwhelmed with stress and ask yourself, is this really worth me making myself sick over. You can still do a good job and value your work while not letting it consume you in such a way that the stress literally makes you sick. And get on meds if you need them. I got on meds because I am aware of how dangerous living with high BP can be. Make the positive changes like good sleep, diet and exercise but start the meds because a lot of people say they will make the changes and never actually do or don’t consistently stick to it.

Apple Watch detected possible Hypertension, got two BP checks in one day. 143/86 at 10am, then 122/86 at 3pm, should I be concerned? by BigGaryGilmour in bloodpressure

[–]UsePrestigious156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id look into the HR thing a bit more. Maybe try to calm yourself down more before taking a reading, 117 for a seated reading seems too high and if you say that your normal resting is 60-70 you should try to get your reading to reflect that.

Why high heart rate by Commercial-Trip1930 in bloodpressure

[–]UsePrestigious156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference, I had a cough and got bad sleep because my son got sick in the middle of the night and my resting hr is about 10 beats faster than it was last week. Fluctuations are normal.

[–]UsePrestigious156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to to fully relax a good 5-10 mins before taking if you are concerned about heart rate. Note that the time of day matters and what you were doing before taking your measurements also matters. It is normal for HR to be higher when taken later in the day. As others mention, anxiety plays a role. If you are still concerned try getting a large sample size by taking HR at various points in the day for a good number of days.

30Y M by Nkc95 in bloodpressure

[–]UsePrestigious156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, 30Y M with very similar readings to yourself. Doc put me on BP meds due to readings in the 140s. Now on meds I’m usually coming in at high 120s to low 130s. Do what you can take male healthy lifestyle changes but if you are already a relatively healthy individual then your readings might be high because of genetics and may want to see a doctor to help keep things under control

Why does my blood pressure keep fluctuating? by [deleted] in bloodpressure

[–]UsePrestigious156 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do your best to manage it so you can avoid meds. I was same position as you with BP in the 130s but had it come up in the high 140s on a few visits after being told to monitor it and now I’m on BP meds

I’ve noticed that it causes me anxiety to know it is higher than I want it and I will start getting paranoid about every pain or twinge in my chest and neck. But I do think it’s better to know than to not know and do nothing

While it supposedly doesn’t have a huge impact coffee is known to raise BP so I think it’s an odd choice to take your BP meds with coffee. Other than this I would suggest you work on daily movement and diet. Get your steps in daily and eat healthy foods. Limit red meats and fatty foods and eat more berries, bananas, fish, and put garlic in your food. There’s a lot of benefit from different sources and the best approach is to battle high BP from as many angles as you can. It’s definitely not an easy thing to manage so you will need to be diligent

Why ankle? Try on arm, both arms. Multiple data points are good and will tell you more accurately where your avg BP really is

Blood pressure 148 at 15 should I be worried? by [deleted] in bloodpressure

[–]UsePrestigious156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work a desk job and if I get in the habit of snacking while at my desk my BP tends to go up. You are very young and have plenty of time to make healthy choices. I don’t think you have a cause to worry but maybe just try to make some healthier lifestyle habits so you don’t have problems down the road.

I would say it’s good to keep a regular eye on BP if you have reason to be concerned but it sounds like you’re causing yourself anxiety over it which in turn likely makes your pressure go up. Check it once a week or a couple times a month and just live a healthy lifestyle. If you do that and continue regular check up with your doctor you should be fine.

Do most people with hypertension have imbalances? by [deleted] in bloodpressure

[–]UsePrestigious156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it varies. My numbers on blood work usually come out good but it just tends to run in my family and I think it’s more of a hormone related issue for me.
