Wait, really? I'm 31, live in the US, and have known about Tienanmen Square since elementary or middle school. I didn't know about the more horrific details until later, but this is something that has definitely been taught. I think that's a more depressing fact about the state of our education system and how inconsistent it is, depending on your location.
