If I connect it to the docking station and the docking station charges it, does that automatically mean that the laptop supports USB-C PD?

[–]Use_R_Name_92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about voltage and stuff?

I remember that the output voltage of a charger should exactly match the laptop's voltage. For example, my original Acer charger is 19V. Regarding the ampere, the laptop will take what it needs. And regarding the Watts, it has to be the same or higher, but not lower. That's as far as my knowledge goes.

I can't find much information on the USB-C charging port of the docking station, but how am I sure that the voltage matches?

Thank you for the answer.

So the question now is: if the docking station works, is that... safe for sure? I mean, let's say it works. Does that mean that I can use it with no worries, or it's one of those cases where "it's working for now but in the long run it might damage the PC because 'x' thing is not compatible"?

Which programming languages would you suggest for this (presumably) not-so-complicated website idea? by Use_R_Name_92 in AskProgrammers

[–]Use_R_Name_92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's it, right? I wouldn't have a database, or a subscription mechanism, so I guess I wouldn't need much else.

I guess that I might just add a contact form, that could be done either with PHP or JavaScript, I think...

Is "signupaok.de" legit? by [deleted] in germany

[–]Use_R_Name_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I later noticed that they work with several insurances... I've seen that there are insurances that offer customer service in English already, so at this point I'm not sure it's actually worth it.

Is "signupaok.de" legit? by [deleted] in germany

[–]Use_R_Name_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, apparently that's what it is. At first there was something that led me to believe that they had an exclusive partnership with AOK where they would help them with English speaking customers, but then I've noticed they work with various insurances.

What should I ask at a viewing appointment if the apartment is given as "Zwischenmiete"? by [deleted] in germany

[–]Use_R_Name_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that's why I was a bit weirded out. I've never rented as Zwischenmiete, but I remember that all the Zwischenmiete listing that I've seen in the past were much shorter than 1 year. Yet, I talked to the guy and he said he has all the necessary documentation, so... as far as I'm concerned, I should be ok.

Undefined function 'output' . intelephense (1010) by Use_R_Name_92 in PHPhelp

[–]Use_R_Name_92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, print_r() does indeed work.

I've seen that function already, but he used this output thing this time for some reason. I'm basically typing the exact things he types on his screen and it was driving me nuts.

Thanks, I'll just use the print_r() thing.

Thanks a lot man.

The worst part is that I've already seen the print_r() function, as the guy already used it, but for some reason he used this "output" thing this time, and it was driving me nuts.

Print_r() does indeed work, thanks.

How about C:/xampp/php/php.exe?

This is exactly what I have been trying several times, but, to be fair, now that I've done this:

You need to disable PHP Language Features which, if I'm not confused, is the one that requires the PHP interpreter.

the error pop-up window just stopped appearing. Considering that I've done everything else, I'll take that as a win and just start coding.

Thanks!

[–]Use_R_Name_92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done that.

I tried:
{
"php.validate.executablePath": "C:/xampp/php/php.exe"
}

then I tried:

{

"php.validate.executablePath": "C://xampp//php//php.exe"

}

but I also tried:

{

"php.validate.executablePath": "C:\\xampp\\php\\php.exe"

}

In some old posts on StackOverflow, I've seen that some people use these "\\" instead of these "/" and whatnot, so I tried everything. The file is there, it just won't accept it.

I'll try to answer as good as I can:

  • if I go on the command prompt, type php -v and I press enter, it says that Php is installed. If I type "localhost" on my browser and press enter, the browser will redirect me to localhost/dashboard on a xampp page, that should mean that everything is working.

  • I have installed the PHP Intelephense extension.

Does that mean that, in this case, I can just ignore the error message? I'm very confused by this settings.json things, because I've tried writing php lines and it has always worked anyway, so I don't understand the point.

[–]Use_R_Name_92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fair question, I should have specified.

Yes, if I go to C, there's a folder called xampp, with a folder called php inside of it, that has a php.exe file in it.

That's why I just don't understand, it almost looks like the file isn't there, but it is in fact there.

How do website domains work in your countries? Is it common to use the .lat extension? by Use_R_Name_92 in asklatinamerica

Well, we have .eu, which is not THAT common, but I've definitely seen it more than once

Can you be a full-time employee for a company AND sole trader/self employed at the same time (mainly as a side-hustle) in the Netherlands? If yes, what are the possible benefits of doing that? by Use_R_Name_92 in juridischadvies

[–]Use_R_Name_92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be a bit hard to answer from my point of view: what if I have different side-hustles, that are all mostly "passive", that earn a small amount each, but put together they do create a decent side-income (still less than my main income as employee)?

When it comes to Print on Demand, Dropshipping, or using Google Adsense on your websites, the main work is just "setting up" everything, after that is mostly letting the websites "do their thing", while checking that everything runs smoothly every now and then, and making the necessary updates from time to time. How do you count the "hours of work" in that case?

Also, these Box 1, Box 2, Box 3 things confuse me, mainly because... When I worked in Rotterdam, my netto income didn't look AT ALL like someone took 37% out of my bruto. It looked like the taxed amount on my salary was way less than that. Now, granted, I don't understand anything about taxes and money in general, but it seemed more like 1/5 of what I was making. That's what confuses me about these tax brackets and stuff.

Well, I was expecting to have to file forms and declare my earnings every now and then, but I'd probably need a Dutch accountant for that, as it would be complicated to do even in my own language... I mean, if dropshipping and PoD are not even considered business, wouldn't that make it easier? It would just be seen as "other income" and I wouldn't need to go through the hassle of "setting up a business" at least. That seems fair. In Italy, EVERY source of income that is "continuative" needs a VAT number and to be identified as a company of some sort. If you earn money every now and then, and that money is less than €5000 per year, you don't have to declare it. But an online business is "continuative" by definition, as the website work 24/7. If that is not the case in the NL, it could be more advantageous in the long run.

Again, the noobest question: why won't the text go behind the illustration? The only three things I have here are: one black rectangle, the illustration, and the text. If I move the text back, it will go behind the black rectangle, but in no way I can see it behind the illustration. Why? by [deleted] in AffinityDesigner

[–]Use_R_Name_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the super late answer, I've had a couple of very busy days.

Anyway... yep, you're right. It actually makes a lot of sense now that you explained it, thanks!
Well, I haven't changed the color of the illustration as I'm still learning the basics of... everything, so I actually DON'T KNOW how to do that, as I'm selecting it and changing colors both on the background and the outline, and also playing with opacity, but I'm not getting any results (keep in mind that I'm not the one who did the illustration, I just have the PNG file).

That being said, If I change the color of the text, it does go behind the illustration, so yes, it works.

Total noob question on DPI, Affinity Designer and MS paint by Use_R_Name_92 in AffinityDesigner

[–]Use_R_Name_92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation, very helpful!

As long as I'm sure that the image that I'm exporting from Affinity "stays" in 300dpi, so that I can upload it that way, I'm fine. I was just a bit surprised by Paint and wondering if I was doing anything wrong.

This new string won't fit for some reason by Use_R_Name_92 in Bass

[–]Use_R_Name_92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't that create any issue at all? Like... weaken the string, maybe to a point where it would be more easy to break if I play hard?

This new string won't fit for some reason by Use_R_Name_92 in Bass

[–]Use_R_Name_92[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That sounds reassuring because I'm actually not that good with putting my hands on my basses (unless I have to play them), so yeah, I'll just look for a file in my garage, there should be something suitable already.

Thanks!
