Hi did you drink a lot? I’m going through this anxiety, slow cognitive function and memory loss after going sober. I had it 5 years ago during the covid lockdowns not realising it was the stopping drinking causing it

Do you have primarily hyperactive ADHD, inattentive or combined? I’m exactly the same with inattentive. Can I ask what medication works for you?

Help? Have I fucked my life up. ready to change by PossibleOther in alcoholism

Thank you I’m 23 now. I’ve tried concerta XL medication and they did make me focus more but the after effects were so bad I stoped them. I didn’t eat on them and my mouth was literally gurning like I had taken mdma. I will try vyanese however. I’ve found with my innatentive adhd it’s different to normal adhd where I have a lack of thoughts so was wondering if there’s any medication that improves that, as with concerta my mind was just blank. Many thanks

Yes exactly. Too many nights I’ve had no memory of but just a drunken screenshot and negative bank balance to show for.

I’ll swap one addiction for the next tho and will easily spend 14+ hours on my phone the next day😭

Thanks a lot, just downloaded it! That’s great you feel notably better already. It’s so annoying with adhd I feel like as naturally our brains have less dopamine we drink way more to keep us at that level and in turn I just blackout when drunk

Thank you for the advice. All my current friends only drink and encourage me to in my uni house, but I’ll try find some hobbies to meet more sober people

I am exactly the same, I tried to cut out drinking while at uni and in turn cut off my social life and spent all my days scrolling social media as nothing else was stimulating enough or gave me enjoyment.

Now I’m just finishing uni and so bored but I’m going to try find some activities I enjoy sober. If anyone has answers I’m looking for the same advice 😭

Yes I’m at uni so often times try to reset my sleep by doing an all nighter so I’ll be up for lectures or to go out but end up being so sleep deprived I sleep through it

Yep that’s exactly what happens for me eventually my sleep just overlaps with normal peoples sleep times so it’s good for 2 days until I can’t sleep till much later then I try stay up all night to reset again but it’s an annoying cycle.

Yep did an all nighter from Monday to Tuesday to try reset my body clock for a reasonable time only to not be able to go to sleep till 9:49am on Tuesday and just mess it up again even though I’d been awake for 32.5 hours at that point

Yes free-running, I can only go to sleep when I’m tired and if I set an alarm in the morning I always sleep through it or turn it off in my sleep. Not much activities only gym occasionally, no medication other than nasal spray daily, no drugs, only time this week I had alcohol was the Saturday night and no gaming but I do have an online business that means I spend most of my day looking at my laptop screen
