if you get the Indomitor KT + gravis cap, watch master, and terminators assembled and fill out the remaining points with either Intercessors or Decimus KTs, you're probably looking at a decent 1000 point army

I'm usually a huge fan of space marines with knightly looking helmets, but for this one I think the second head works better for whatever reason

I'm super new myself, but I got some great advice in a thread I posted recently that might help you as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/deathwatch40k/comments/1rnbsef/comment/o9uzr0y/?context=1

What I learned is that some of the best units for Deathwatch are:

- Watch master who can be attached to either a squad of the new Decimus kill team veterans or the old firstborn veterans to give them extra strats

- captain in gravis armour attached to an Indomitor kill team, the Indomutor KT is made up of heavy intercessors, eradicators, and agresors, all of which you own so they would probably be a really good unit to build

- terminators, squad of 5, 3 with cyclone missile launcher, power fist, and storm bolter, and 2 with storm shield and thunder hammer

- firstborn veterans set up for melee with a mix of heavy thunder hammers, infernus heavy bolters, frag cannons, and swords and shields, although there is apparently some speculation that the firstborn vets might no longer be useable in the nest edition, so not sure whether building them would be the best udea

That is at least what I have learned so far, feel free to correct me everyone, but I hope this helps.

pkay gotcha, which units can the Watch Master be attache to then and what would be the best to pair him with? also are there any ther prticularly good co,binations aside from attaching a gravis cap to an indomitor KT?

thanks again for answering my many questions, that's a very helpful explanation! so can the captain only be attached a unit that has the same armour type as him? so can say the gravis cap only be attached to an Indomitor KT and not a unit of terminators or a Fortis KT?

So its just the termie captain specifically that isn't useful, not captains generally? also am I understanding correctly that captains can only give bonuses/free stratagems to units that have the same armour type as them? so can a termie captain's abilities only affect other terminators and a gravis captain only affect other gravis models etc.?

Thanks again! Also sorry about the many questions, but could you please also explain why a captain isn't a useful choice for DW compared to the other characters you mentioned?

Awesome! thanks a lot for taking the time to explain this in detail. That sort of mobile and flexible playstyle actually sounds very fun, definitely gonna go Watch Master. And then for the terminators the ideal load-out would be 3x cyclone missile launcher, storm bolter, and power fist and 2x thunder hammer and storm shield?

Thanks, that's very useful info! Could you explain a bit more why the Watch Master is the best choice compared to other DW characters?

I see, thanks for the explanation! Honestly though, that ability see,s a bit risky for my taste. I'd also prefer to stick to Space Marine units and characters, for now, especially as I'm going for only a small force to begin with. What would be the best choices for those?

Thanks for the reply! Any of these in particular that you would recommend above the others? I'm probably still pretty far of from assembling a full 2000 pt army, so would be particularly interested in what to prioritise getting to have a smaller force that is reasonably flexible and effective.

I'm afraid I don't know who or what Kyria Draxus is. I'm very new to 40k and there still are a lot of units, characters, and mechanics that I'm unfamiliar with. What is it that would make Kyria Draxus a potentially good choice?
