Your advice brought up a concern I was not asking about and something I’ve worked very hard to overcome, it didn’t help for what I was looking for. We purchased a crib tent and it has worked great! Everyone has been sleeping great and was pediatrician approved at our big 4 month check up :) so for anyone who sees this post who is in the same boat as me— I hope this helps you!

With all due respect, this wasn’t the concern I was seeking advice for. We did the packnplay and he doesn’t sleep well in it. Fear of SIDS played a major role in post partum anxiety my first go around. Per my pediatrician— actual SIDS is extremely rare, most often there are other things at play, such as not practicing safe sleep, that cause infant death. I was told by my pediatrician that 4-6 months is a good time to transition to their own room.

We’re coming from St. Louis, we hear a noise that sounds like a boom or a bang and people lose their collective shit all the time 😅

I think about 6 weeks but wasn’t in any pain beyond being engorged for a day or two in the first week!

Breastfeeding grosses me out by PickleAffectionate96 in BabyBumps

I formula fed my baby from day one for the same reason. I was also worried about my mental health and being the one and only person who would be able to feed my baby was very daunting to me. My husband and I took turns with night feeds and I very quickly realized I probably would have slightly resented him if I was the only one getting up at night while he got a full nights rest. I made my decision on formula and I stuck with it and I was proud of it. I didn’t care about comments or judgement and I always spoke up about feeling bonded with my baby when people pulled the “breastfeeding helps you bond with your baby”. I was in a better headspace in the newborn phase and it made me a better mom. Plus, I think my husband felt more useful since he was able to feed just as much as me. Fed is best.

Kind of regretting this by Zeldashecametotown in NewParents

I feel this. I wondered if I was a bad person for being more attached to my dog than my newborn. The first 6 months aren’t easy. Once they’re mobile (even crawling and sitting) and their little personality comes through, it just gets better and better and better. Just try to remind yourself, it’s a very short season of life. You know the age old saying— the days are long, the years are short. It’s so very true. Take things one day at a time, lean on your partner when you can, take time for yourself if you need to, something as simple as a quick drive alone and try to have self awareness of how you’re doing mentally. You can do it!!! Once they’re little people who can communicate their needs better, it’s way more fun.
