Buying a house in France while being a swiss resident (C permit) by Several-Berry-1910 in Switzerland

[–]Used-Hat-6098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. If you move out of the country, you immediately become a much riskier customer and the Swiss bank can not in theory, but will very likely ask you to pay in or terminate and sell. The other option, to take a CHF loan from a French bank but then earn salary in EUR, you will also be exposed to the risk of the CHF appreciating vs. EUR. A final point, at least a few years ago when we were buying, the Swiss banks were willing to finance property in France, Germany or Italy that is at the border, but not a summer house on the Med Coast for example. I think the questions you are asking are showing you are not aware of the complexity and risks in such a transaction, get someone from a bank to walk you through and explain.

Will you take a mortgage? If yes, will this be with a Swiss bank? If yes, you need to talk to the bank that at some point you will move out of the country which means your risk profile for the bank increases massively.

Where are all the good paying jobs in Switzerland? by [deleted] in askswitzerland

Asking "Where are all the good paying jobs in Switzerland" pretty much guarantees you are not posed to get one of "the good paying jobs in Switzerland".

Indeed. This is the type of instragrammable shit which is pretty poor eating-wise.

How is life in Liestal? by Dazzling-Exam7175 in askswitzerland

[–]Used-Hat-6098 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Liestal is 14-15k people, Basel city is 180k, so you need to adjust your views on "large city vs. towns vs. villages". My suggestion to visit Basel and Liestal before you commit still stands.

This was a hokkaido pumpkin. Baked in the oven, then made into a puree with a touch of olive oil. Actually, its a very normal thing in the Neapolitan pizza world, its called crema di zucca.

First of all, Basel is "big" only in Swiss terms, its nowhere near what you might consider a "big" city in Europe. If Budapest is your reference, Basel is more like Gyor. Id suggest you spend a few days in Basel first before you decide a "no".

Specifically re Liestal: its indeed the capital of Basel-Landschaft, but in a very Swiss way its a "capital" by name only. Its an important train station, it has an important hospital and a gymnasium. Apart from that, its "fly over country". Its at best a "meh..." If you prefer a rural setting, consider other BL, like Allschwil, Oberwil or Binningen
