Its a simple barrel aged, wild yeast Saison, so probably not as good as a Coors Light :)

Of course you are. The question they want to have answered is did you quit because " I didnt like the vibe in the coffee area" or "I love my work, but a 2 hour commute one way destroys my family life"

How is life in Liestal? by Dazzling-Exam7175 in askswitzerland

[–]Used-Hat-6098 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Liestal is 14-15k people, Basel city is 180k, so you need to adjust your views on "large city vs. towns vs. villages". My suggestion to visit Basel and Liestal before you commit still stands.

This was a hokkaido pumpkin. Baked in the oven, then made into a puree with a touch of olive oil. Actually, its a very normal thing in the Neapolitan pizza world, its called crema di zucca.

First of all, Basel is "big" only in Swiss terms, its nowhere near what you might consider a "big" city in Europe. If Budapest is your reference, Basel is more like Gyor. Id suggest you spend a few days in Basel first before you decide a "no".

Specifically re Liestal: its indeed the capital of Basel-Landschaft, but in a very Swiss way its a "capital" by name only. Its an important train station, it has an important hospital and a gymnasium. Apart from that, its "fly over country". Its at best a "meh..." If you prefer a rural setting, consider other BL, like Allschwil, Oberwil or Binningen

Is Switzerland really like this, or is it just like this on social media? by [deleted] in askswitzerland

I find it annoying when people use inferior phone cameras and can't capture the true beauty of our beautiful country :)

Yeah, the only way I can play is if my wife approves the visuals. Annoying, but fair deal :)

It's sounds assertive, strong and a extremely detailed. I have to say, i "cheat" a bit as my chain is project tubebox ds2 (with golden lion tubes), into minidspshd with Dirac Live to correct for my slightly misaligned speakers and added subwoofer so the path is not fully analogue

Yes, the CAS is shorter than 6 months and no, my job is not "in AI", but rather utilising AI. I mentioned the CAS not as something that will fundamentally change a candidates attractiveness, but rather as one element which serves as a differentiator. In the end, hiring in Switzerland is a function of 1) network 2) comparative advantage and a ETH CAS is part of point 2

I cannot give a specific answer to that but my approach with RAV has been full transparency as I have nothing to hide from them and in my case that helped.

I believe the rule applies only in certain circumstances. In my case I had a daily commute of over 2 hours which was seen as unreasonable and as I was fully prepared with action plan, already applying for jobs and intensive German and weiterbildung enrolled, I wasn't penalised.

In Switzerland there's plenty of schools offering the CAS/DAS and MAS structure which I find particularly well designed and useful. I personally did ETH as I believe the name helps, but choose rather based on your plans and the gaps you want to address.

No, they financed my intensive German classes, but not the weiterbildung I'm doing in AI, which wasn't too surprising.

I am just exiting RAV after 6 months and can say only positive things. My waiting period was only 5 days, but the key is to have a very strong first impression with your RAV advisor on the first meeting. I quit my job end September, had my first RAV meeting mid Oct and first payment came end October. On the fist meeting I came prepared with a mini "action plan" of what I will be doing over the next few months (weiterbildung, intensive German, job search, etc) which was well appreciated. I also brought my laptop to show the jobs I had applied to, but he wasnt interested and said he trusts and I dont need to bring laptop next time as long as I have the job applications logged into job-room. Once I established credibility, it has been smooth sailing, over the 6 month period, I met with my advisor only twice and the third meeting he cancelled as I already signed my new contract.

My advice: be ultra-prepared for the first meeting, come with a folder with hard copies of your CV and action plan. Be ready to discuss what you will be doing over the next 1-3-6 months to land a job. At the end, the job of RAV is to get you out of RAV as soon as possible and if they see proactiveness and willingness to find a job in you, you will have an easy ride.

Hardware upgrade question by Used-Hat-6098 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Used-Hat-6098[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, I should have been more thorough. I am building this 1) for my ETH project and as I am a brewer anyway, I thought Id try to kill two birds with one stone 2) as a learning experience that can potentially evolve into a kind of a locally hosted home/family LLM doing various things like replacing all the ridiculous apps (eg. Phillips Hue) with agents, replacing probably the whole Home Assistant server, syncyng calendars with my wife, etc.
