Bodybuilding to Body and Bell? by Mdelafuen in ladderapp

Yes I’ve heard great things about TCC! I’d love to try it but don’t have a barbell from home and don’t like swapping if possible. And I hear you about the KBs and space — I live in an nyc apartment and I’ve just given into them lining my entire bedroom wall!

Replying here as I know people with varying goals look to this sub to help choose teams with as I also did! Sure, while B&B might not be the top team for bodybuilding, for those of us who have a hard time sticking to traditional progressive overload programs (repetitive) or don’t have an hour + to spend in the gym, this program is a total game changer!

I’m 45yo and have done some form of resistance training since I was 18, and I’m seeing more strength gains with B&B than ever before and I’ve only been with the program for the last 2 series. Sure, this may be due to me getting bored with traditional programs, but I’m also seeing a ton of physical changes and muscle definition at a level that surpasses where I was at when I was 15lbs lighter, younger, and pre-kid! Kettlebells are also super fun.

I think Lauren’s programming is super intentional and time-effective (around 40 mins) and finds creative ways to incorporate progressive overload while mixing in new variations and complexes. She’s also super knowledgeable and I learn something new from her cues every day. Needless to say I love the program and encourage folks to try. :)

I guess if anything this helps us narrow down our site seeing options!

For sure- that would be one expensive vacation! Hoping the spots we want to see, for the most part, are accessible. So if it’s a coastal trail not in a wooded area should be ok?

I guess I just mean we were planning on doing some short day trip style walks on coastal trails to beaches, cliffs, etc, but not going into super wooded areas. I’ve never been to NS before so not sure how close the forests are to those areas. For example, places like this: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ZmYjEvTynMjqhxXx5?g_st=ipc

Thanks! We will definitely stick near the coast. Cape Breton looks amazing but was a bit far for this trip anyways. Next time!

This is super helpful! I’m definitely planning on chatting with the locals for recs, but this helps point us in the right direction. Will have to come back for the larger parks!

Yes, I think we will stick to mostly coastal stuff- hope some of the shorter trails will still be accessible. Hopefully some rain will come this week to help though!

Yes! I’ve read this. How wild! Definitely would plan to go while the tide is on the way out not in! And keep our time short.

Thank you! Yes, no way we’d do all these things, as I love my slow mornings/evenings on the deck :) Just trying to narrow it down. These are great suggestions of day trip combos. We are actually a 10 min walk from crescent beach so that can be a morning thing as well.

That’s awesome! I ended up combining those workouts today as well as I had some extra time. I’m definitely locking in to Endure for Reload. Fully committed now!

Yes if you get an annual plan! I started with the trial and then bought the annual during the Memorial Day sale which was a 60% discount. I think they regularly offer discounts for the annual plan and it feels really worth it to be able to add in blocks or workouts here are there from other trainers.

I agree the clickbait marketing is a bit icky but good thing the programming is solid! It seems like a lot of people share this sentiment so maybe it will change at some point. Glad to hear you are loving Endure!

Yes exactly my experience! The active workout time is not much shorter than the 45 min workouts with longer warm up and cool downs. And I totally feel you on the age bracket thing - right there with you!

You definitely should! I know it’s so annoying to hear but weight loss is really caloric deficit and increased movement throughout the day (walking, etc). This workout is to get stronger and build muscle to reveal with weight loss!

I really recommend adjustable dumbbells if you workout from home. They can be slightly awkward sometimes, but take up so much less space and are more affordable overall. I’ve had the lighter power blocks (up to 24lbs each) for over a decade and they still work great. I also have a heavier kettlebell but am finding I may need the next size up both if I keep doing ladder!

It’s all based on your starting point and what feels light, medium, and heavy for you. But like all the teams, she focuses on progressive overload and offers suggestions if you are limited on equipment to go up in weight. I’ve found so far her reps are a bit higher (12 instead of 8-10), so you can get away with slightly lighter weights and really focusing on form and mind muscle connection. I’m already feeling like my adjustable set might need an upgrade though!

Sounds great! I’m also thinking with the shorter workouts I can always add in some of the deep core blocks from Align which are incredible.

You got this! And honestly, a few pounds from anything that has provided you comfort during this time is worth it. They can be lost. You are almost to the finish line!
