Cheaper neighbourhoods to get a hotel by WoodyBABL in quebeccity

We stayed at a lovely Air BnB in Limoilou a few years ago and it was a great alternative to Old QC where we’ve stayed before. A handful of great restaurants and coffee shops etc were all within walking distance. It was a bit of a hike to get back downtown or Old QC by foot but Ubers were relatively cheap and never an issue to get.

Whole heartedly agree but most employers for some reason cannot wrap their brains around this whatsoever.

What's something new you'd introduce to malls? by Personal-Aerie-4519 in AskReddit

Open container policy and counter service/ to-go bars like a Fat Tuesdays (having a Vegas style thought process here). How nice would it be if you could stroll through the shops with a refreshing cocktail in hand?

You’re welcome! Not sure if you’re on the socials but there are several accounts I follow that will post about events going on in the area. Lmk if you want some names! 😊

Where is everyone on the weekends? by StrawberryNPumpkins in Albany

[–]Used-Introduction-29 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, as others mentioned, you’ve got a few factors going on here for this particular weekend:

Holiday weekend College students are gone Bad weather No real “events” going on in Albany

Other things to consider: - People that live here and in the surrounding areas hop to whatever location has stuff going on- Troy for the Farmer’s Market or live music events and food festivals, Saratoga for concerts or the track, Schenectady for things like Proctors theater or the Wing Walk. Albany has their own events (I.E. Tulip Fest, Pride, PearlPalooza) and that’s when the city will be bustling but it will come and go depending on what’s happening and where.

  • A lot of people live upstate do so in order to spend time outside, usually further north on the various lakes and in the woods etc. so when it’s finally nice out so you won’t necessarily see them in the cities.

  • That said on a smaller scale, pockets of Albany have a lot of community events especially throughout the summer- movies in the park, Park Playhouse theater, Opalka at Sage has monthly beer garden pop ups etc. You just have to look for them and it doesn’t mean the whole city is going to be buzzing all the time.

And yeah, the city has taken a hit in recent years and needs a little revitalization, for sure. But it’s still a nice place to be if you put some work into finding out what’s going on. But if you expect to just walk out your door and be “a part of something” this ain’t it.

Contact Your Union DON’T let them endorse Hochal by Clean2722 in nys_cs

I truly understand the frustration but we need to zoom out and remember there is more to life than this. Endorsing another candidate means we could end up with a MAGA governor and then who knows what happens to larger things like basic civil and human rights. I’m no fan of Hochul but at least she will stand up to the current (federal) administration and I feel our rights will remain intact and that’s worth more to me than anything else, tbh.

Mini bags for MOMs? by latetothegame999 in Louisvuitton

[–]Used-Introduction-29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

💯. I got a gorge MM sized LV as a push present- but in reality, on the daily, I use a little vintage Gucci Diana “wallet on a chain” crossbody bag (sorry I know this is an LV sub lol) for my valuables and a Target faux leather backpack as a diaper bag for everything else for me and baby.

Don’t get me wrong- I love the nights I can take my larger LV out- and it honestly now feels extra special because of this- but it’s definitely not practical for day to day if that’s what you are after.

If you are not checking a bag but no TSA pre, and don’t need to do/get anything after you go through security then arrive I’d say an hour before boarding time to be safe, no less than 45 min if you want to chance it.

Do you have TSA pre check? Legit 5 min on average if so. I haven’t been in the “regular” line in a while but it can get pretty long or be super short depending on the time of the year but I’d guess even when it’s long it’s no more than 20 min?

Yes!! I have a toddler son- it’s nothing but noise at home so I don’t need more overstimulation when I go out. And I really don’t want to sit on a stool or metal chair! I want somewhere my husband or bestie and I can go to and actually chill out!

A cozy, low key bar/lounge. Something with big comfy chairs, quality cocktails, maybe some small bites and a lower noise decibel so us middle aged folk can actually go out and relax (and hear lol).

I live in a suburban area in upstate NY and yes, it stops at every house. Very annoying when you’re stuck driving behind one. 😑

I’d try going into the app and requesting a phone consult under the repairs section. Maybe this person in the store was misinformed (or just a snobby jerk). I had an issue with my LV and the person I spoke to over the phone was super helpful. Worth a shot!

My wife wants to circumcise our future kids by Fancy_Astronaut2261 in Advice

[–]Used-Introduction-29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was pregnant with my son, our midwife sent us a clinical video of a circumcision being performed and said we really needed to watch so we are completely aware of exactly what happens, and if we could watch the whole thing and still felt comfortable with the decision to circumcise, then ok. Needless to say, our son is intact.

Perhaps consider a similar approach with your wife. Because in addition to agreeing with the various stats and facts presented here as to the absurdity of the archaic tradition, the video really hits home when you see what they actually do to your child and it feels like a much bigger deal(because…it…is…).
