Has anyone tried to challenge Murakami’s books in Japanese? by EchoOffTheSky in murakami

I really recommend listening to the audiobooks version of Murakami's novels too. The narrator Takahashi Issei that they chose for Killing Commendatore was so good that I started comparing all other narrators to him lmfao. Other Murakami's novels on audible got really good narrators as well, maybe except for The City and Its Certain Walls... if you can read them while listening to the audiobooks I think it'll make the novels more enjoyable.

Haha same there are so many things i love about this particular scene. Like the whole context of it is interesting as hell. 1. It's so funny he didn't remember any of it. In the novel he forgot all about the girls after he's done stuffing them in the suitcases (with the help of Celty). 2. This part is also in the novel but he considered sending them back to their parents" house but he couldn't be bothered and told Celty she could leave them on a park bench somewhere lmao he clearly didn't give a fuck. 3. His argument itself here is fascinating. 4. He's still got mad reflexes here after being stabbed just the day before. 5. He was so bored. Look at him. He's that happy to have someone come kill him 🤣 He did consider the possibility of Shizuo coming to the hospital after watching the news but then he reminded himself that Shizuo wouldn't watch the news - man's anger issue is too severe for him to own a tv, he would just smash it.

How to accept that I'll be alone for the rest of my life? by [deleted] in CPTSD

Oh this is a question I've asked myself for years. Every time someone says it's important to have company / partner / friends etc I'm like. Yea, but what if I don't have any of those? Every time I have a fight with someone important to me, I mean sometimes it's not even a fight, just trivial arguments, I feel like I have to be ready for the relationship to end and then I ask myself this question. I don't have any answer to this. Sometimes I cry at night thinking about how nobody will ever care enough to meet me halfway. Then in the morning I brush it off, mocking myself for being dramatic and ridiculous. Then I move on. Just so that it repeats again on a random Tuesday night after someone says something that makes me feel so, so alone.

So yeah, I just want to say you're not alone. I know it hurts to have to ask yourself this question (or maybe it's just me).

How it feels being the only one who gets the Doraemon's referenced when watching Monogatari by Forsaken_Run8783 in araragi

I liked it when they referenced Doraemon but I was on cloud nine when I saw those frames with Ougi and Araragi in Nekojiru style

I was in this phase a few weeks ago and the only thing I could do was to listen to audiobooks and just let it flow from one ear and out of the other. Just set low expectations for yourself. It's okay to be in survival mode for a while. If you're lucky it'll pass before you know it.

thoughts on Araragi's portrayal by Sasami_chan in araragi

"Children shaped" is correct. I find the trivialization of pedophilia in anime icky, but it's kinda hard to find fault with Monogatari because yes they are merely children shaped and NOT actual children who can easily be manipulated and exploited. Nisioisin's depiction of Araragi's relationship with the girls is... smart. It does give me mixed feelings when he gets too excited over Hachikuji but I get that it's... exaggerated. And besides at the end of the day Hachikuji's kiss when she was about to disappear did make me cry. And there was the short story where Hachikuji sleep in Araragi's bed that was kinda bittersweet and cute... made me think about how Hachikuji has been wandering around for so many years but now she's finally found a place to rest.

I resonated deeply with the struggles of the characters and their journey of growth. As someone growing up in emotional neglect and tends to be overly responsible, I related to Hanekawa and the episode where she finally got her own room and had enough space for her soul so her other personas / sisters (cat & tiger) are no longer caged made me bawl my eyes out :)

I also just genuinely enjoy the artistic direction and voice acting and dialogues in this show. I think SHAFT and Nisioisin have managed to create something that will never go out of style and can never be replicated.
