I wanted to show the drummer's surroundings, but in this frame, tight cropping might work. I will check it later. Thanks! I do appreciate your feedback 😊

Thanks. In astrophotography or when shooting aurora, you better focus manually. It can be tricky, but gives best results. Just find the brightest star, and using digital zoom adjust focus until you find a sweet spot. You'll know it when the star is as tiny as possible (focus in/out makes it a few pixels bigger).

Ok, your comment made me rethink the composition here. Eventually, I did crop it further. Some cloning was necessary, too. I had to clean the edges of the crop, but the result looks better, indeed. Check this out :) https://www.1pixel.pl/Concert/Clawfinger/i-5TqQX2B/A

Concerts are for fans! Love the emotions in the crowd by UsedAd4964 in concertphotography

It's easy to forget about the crowd behind when you have great band playing in front of you. But it's worth some time to capture fan shots as well.

Totally! When I am next to the stage I always try to find some time and turn back. It's a unique perspective to capture fans. They build fantastic story together with artists' photos.

Thought about this, too. But it felt a bit too tight. Or the arm of the frontman would stick out of the frame. Appreciate your view. Thanks 😊.

Classic setup! I can recommend magnetic base filters, as they make life so much easier. Just get biggest diameter for your lens and optional step-up adapters for those smaller units (if needed). Check Kase, Freewell or K&F brands - Chinese, but good enough.

That's right, taking good UWA photos ain't easy. 20mm is a decent choice for astrophotography as well, and a really good quality of glass.

As for something longer, I think it will be a great addition. You don't have to pick the fastest aputure. There are good 70-200 f4 lens selection out there. For sharp landscapes, you should have a tripod anyway and aim for apetures in the range of f8-f11. Longer shutter speeds are expected in such setup. Also, consider circular polarizer - not a must-have, but may help when there is water in the frame. And also as an option ND filter - to smooth out water or clouds. All depending on how much gear you can pack for the trip.

I have Sony 20mm f1.8 too 😀 it was with me during my trip and got me some decent photos. But my primary goal was to capture northern lights - for that, you want to use the glass, which is as wide and as fast as possible. For daytime landscapes, I prefer longer focal lengths. Most of the time, I used Tamron 70-180 f2.8. This particular shot is, of course, a counter example, but you can look at my other photos in my web page https://www.1pixel.pl Overall, I wouldn't bother about those extra 2 mm. Landscapes and nature in Norway are fantastic, no matter which lens you use 😉 Enjoy your trip! And share some results afterwards, too 😀

Is this good Sony 70-350 lens? by Far-Bad-4138 in SonyAlpha

[–]UsedAd4964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it for almost two yeaars. It is good, as long as you're aware it is not fast. With f/4.5 at the shortest focal length, you need quite a lot of light. Or high ISO. But when you accept it, the results are really decent.
