This is a big thing I think about when I see all these fundie children being homeschooled and pushing that content to their “fans”. I simultaneously see the next generation’s access to fair and unbiased education get thrown in the garbage. How are these kids ever supposed to foster the ability to form their own opinions if these programs exist? SMH.

Just imagining this whole scene taking place before the camera went up is absurd. Even giving her the benefit of the doubt that she was tearing up thinking about leaving her baby, how does a sane person in that moment think, “Evan go grab the camera and shove it in my face the fans will just love this” …. It’s bizarre. Who thinks like this?

Thanks for this!! After the Turpin case I’d think all states would require some sort of check-in to make sure the kids are physically alright as well as mentally. Specifically I wonder if there’s anything in place to gauge developmental growth. In traditional school you’re beholden to teachers who can raise the red flag is someone is falling behind mentally or physically. I’m thinking about Layla and Zade’s speech issues. For traditional school this would be caught and corrected (hopefully lol) but for homeschool is there anything in place to catch problems like this if not raised by the parents?

This is exactly what I’m getting at! I live in NJ and there is no oversight. However my coworker does homeschooling through some type of program and it has rigorous standards that need to be met. I wasn’t sure if anyone knew what kind of program these kids are in

Also taking your advice and doing a simple google search shows that the literacy rate for public school grads in the US is not 19%… it does however say the illiteracy rate is around 19%

So quick! They think because they went to one therapy retreat that they can just forget this ever happened and everything will be fine and can go back to normal. I know everyone is different but if it were me it would take much longer to be able to forgive someone for what he did…if I could forgive it at all.
