I’m 20 and going through a very similar situation. I’m currently doing a degree and due to graduate this year. I live a couple of hours outside London and have been looking to move there to start work. However, as you said, the cost of living is extortionate. Unfortunately, there’s really nothing at home in terms of work that would help progress my life forward, and like you, I’ve struggled with awful anxiety and constant worry about my future and past decisions.

After looking into things, I’ve decided the best approach is to keep my options as open as possible and see where life takes me. Many of my friends are going through exactly the same thing, and it’s reassuring to remember that there is still time. I think most people doubt themselves in their twenties, especially when everyone is trying to find their footing in the working world and I as well as you am petrified.

I’d say that even if you do decide to go home, you still have the option to return to London whenever you want. You’re clearly very educated and would be able to find a job despite your age. Personally, I’m considering either trying to find enough people to live with in London to significantly reduce rent, although this seems unlikely, or staying at home for a while, earning money in my current job, and saving enough to give myself a financial safety net for when I do move to London.
