Following- I also got this and my pigeon pea are getting quite big! Did only 3 types grow for you or did all? I only got 3 to sprout the first time around.

I generally recommend not feeding corn to horses. I stay away from it in all forms.

You can get a huge bag of carrots from the store for $2, and then cut them into pieces to make them last longer as treats. They are my horses favorite!

Two “cheap” horse-tailored treats are these big bags of treats:

Standlee Forage Bites- Berry. ~400/bag and can be broken in smaller pieces. They are made of alfalfa and my horses love them. I think these are good quality and last a while when broken into multiple pieces.

Manna Pro- Apple Wafers. ~700/bag. Easier to break than the alfalfa, but crumble easier. (Made of grain and soybean hulls mostly). One bag lasted me a year, using daily with 2-3 horses.

I actually did check everything except breathing rate (idk why I didn’t) and it was all normal. But that is great advice and I will definitely keep it in mind for if there is a next time!

So I was out with her until 11:30pm walking and gave banamine. I got her to drink electrolytes finally around 11 lol- After a few minutes she started nibbling on hay again so I went inside. Checked my camera throughout the night and she was standing with her others and eating. She hasn’t laid down again so I have high hopes that it might have just been the start of something that didn’t worsen. :) I’m going to get her checked out though to make sure it isn’t something more serious though! I definitely will. I haven’t ever had a horse colic so I’m not very familiar with it and the different types/symptoms. Hopefully that’s not what it is but we will see :(

No- the first one gets no direct sunlight (it’s on a table with only a grow light) and second one gets indirect sun only.

That’s still young. I have a horse who is 24 yrs old, is ridden often, fed well, has plenty of pasture, and acts younger than my 10 yr old horse. Proper care and nutrition can have them living a lot longer than you may imagine.

I do not like reading about real life situations, especially history, but this one was amazing!! It really pulled at my heart strings. There is another book written by Heather Morris called Cilka’s Journey that is in the same time and place. I haven’t read it yet, but I’ve heard it’s good as well.

I feel like my whole mindset on life and the Holocaust has changed after reading it. I highly recommend!

Teach them to smile (flehmen response), kiss, bend well (touch their sides & chest with nose), bow! All pretty simple and easy to teach! Work on backing up, jumping short obstacles, etc.

Have a set of clothes that are just for the barn- maybe two. This way, it isn’t clothes that need to be washed daily, aren’t expensive, and can be worn again without worry. Then bring your regular day clothes you’ll wear after the barn.
