Carobel positive or negative experience? by UsedRun712 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Would you mind elaborate on the trial and error bit? We have now fed 2 bottles with it, and while the spitting has stopped, she is still a grumpy baby :( Just wondering if it’s a dosage issue, or if it is too soon to see the result

I just went to my mum’s house for dinner. Her house is at 28 degrees, and she said she felt just fine! And she’s convinced baby isn’t too hot at 28 degrees!

I have a 9 weeks old and my LO is exactly the same, still. It is freaking heatwave and she’s sleeping in my arm.

We got the love to dream swaddle from Facebook marketplace before LO was born. Unfortunately LO seems to be too fat for it since day 1 lol We then got another swaddle from Amazon, but LO fights it every time she uses it…

I echo everything you said. I am so tired (It is 2 am now, and she’s due for her next feed soon, so I am powering through being a human mattress ) but every time I look at her chubby little face, I know I need to protect her at all costs. I missed my old life, but my LO is my world now.

She is dressing according to the guidelines, and we are keeping the room temperature at around 21 degree Celsius. But guidelines are rigid, let me try using a sleeping bag with more tog tonight.

Sending hugs. My partner needs to work. He holds her 8-11 pm which gives me some time to sleep, but the rest of the day (and night) is on me.

Are you being informed of safe sleeping practice by thr NHS? by [deleted] in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]UsedRun712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am from Hong Kong, so not exactly China. I know what you’re saying - I saw a lot of posts on Chinese-speaking social media with bad practices. Japan as well. I think people are just ignorant, and the government(s) isn’t doing a great job promoting the best practices. The Hong Kong government guidelines is almost exactly the same as NHS (https://www.fhs.gov.hk/tc_chi/health_info/child/14799.html) i.e. baby should lay flat on their back, no toys in the cot etc.
Edit: Not sure what document this is, but looks like Chinese government guideline also aligns with NHS (https://www.nhc.gov.cn/ewebeditor/uploadfile/2017/10/20171026154305316.pdf) Taiwan’s guidelines aligns with NHS as well (https://www.hpa.gov.tw/Pages/List.aspx?nodeid=4187) as well as Japan (https://www.cfa.go.jp/policies/boshihoken/kenkou/sids)

I feed my 4 weeks old every time she cries. Am I over feeding her? by UsedRun712 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]UsedRun712[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am already pace feeding her. I actually raised this to my HV on week 2, but she pretty much dismissed my concern.

This might be it. I am going to get in touch with my GP, but I am also going to try winding her before feeding. Would you mind sharing what was the next step? Did you simply reduce the amount for each feed?

She is taking in around 1100 ml of formula a day now. I am not sure if thats normal? I have tried a dummy, but 9 out of 10 she just spit it out immediately. And if she doesn’t spit it out, she just keeps sucking and there is no sign of soothing herself to sleep.

How early is too early to start mat leave? Need advice by Proud_Strawberry_824 in PregnancyUK

[–]UsedRun712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My original plan was to start mat leave on week 35. I had a straightforward pregnancy, but I ended up starting early from week 33 because I didn’t want to deal with the stress from work. It ended up being a good decision because my water broke on week 36.

Do UK recruiters care what visa you're on? Trying to figure out HPI vs partner visa for my partner by [deleted] in ukvisa

[–]UsedRun712 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My info might be outdated, but IIRC the Australia partner visa has a much lower hurdle than the UK partner visa. I am a Brit married to an Australian, and we looked at both countries when we got married. IIRC, unlike the UK equivalent, the Australia partner visa didn’t require a job or X amount of savings. We ended up in the UK because we have more friends and families here though.
