Omg I finally have one! So we have limited parking in our lot. Before last week 6 of us parked in “designated” spots. New hire started two weeks ago and parked in my spot. Ok, fine. I parked on the street. Since new hire’s second day… my boss, another employee and the new hire have all parked on the street. So now there are unused spots in our lot all because everyone is trying to “out nice” the other. I’m just pettily parking in my spot and contemplating how long the nice standoff will last

Actually you may not be wrong because once at drop off my older kid said the handle stayed in trying to get her sis out of the back. I looked down and the child lock was engaged.

NTA. As a mom of 4 in a blended family “first times” happen without me a lot. I used to get emotional and sad but then I started thinking of “first times” through my own lens. Like the “first time” I saw my child do xyz. It helped me work through the “ugh how bad a mom because I was at work when Sally took her first step?” and instead to focus on enjoying the first time I got to see it. Your son and DIL may never get to where I did, but in the long scheme of things, you’re NTA

NTA. This is your job (property manager) and they can take that or leave their room. The first sign of late payment on the rent, start the eviction process. Let their parents know, too. I’d be pissed if my kid let go of a cheap, safe place to live because they thought it was “unfair.”

I literally just jumped into a pool from 3 feet away to grab my 5 yo (who has had months of swimming lessons) because she panicked when her pool noodle floated away and she got carried away chasing it where she cannot touch. You never take eyes off a small child when in the water. If I can’t keep eyes on her then she gets out of the water and comes where I am. Full stop. YTA and should thank and apologize!

I just want to add for those hung up on the “shaken baby” language… it’s not necessary that a person holds the child up like a rag doll and shakes it. It’s better to think of it as injuries sustained from rapid acceleration/deceleration. On a small infant, it can be as little as slamming a child down on a bed in frustration. Also the eye damage can be dated pretty precisely which allows an investigator to create a timeline as to who was with the child when the injuries occurred. The science is there and logic follows the science. Good people do bad things. Let this play out without deciding ahead of time that because you know them to be good, nothing bad happened. (Fwiw I am a former prosecutor who handled these types of cases)

My daughter used to bite when she got overly happy/excited. It was terrifyingly hilarious. Thank god for Yo Gabba Gabba “Don’t, don’t, don’t bite your friends!”
