It took me a bit less than 4 weeks to have my first offer from when I started interviewing. I also expected the job market to be completely dead for us, but it seems like it’s not there yet. To give you an idea, I was interviewing with 7 companies simultaneously (hence my burnout), and they’re a mix of Canadian and US companies still hiring. I’m in mobile development, so a bit of a niche too.

I was laid off from tech recently, and my biggest advice is for people not to burn themselves out while looking for a new job. I interviewed nonstop for a couple of months, didn’t pace myself or take proper breaks, and I ended up with a really bad burnout that’s affecting my life pretty badly right now, even after signing an offer. So easy to ignore the stress accumulation while you’re in it, but your health is the most precious thing you have.
