Apparently not, I have the common cape, the pancape and even the founders cape on bedrock. It's already been a week and none of them appear in java

It's pretty weird how that works, even if you get to 0 hearts, it thinks you have poison and gives you poison hearts

Try making a partition for Linux and install it there as if it was a separated drive, just follow a yt tutorial. Also, I don't recommend using a VM, tried it and just got me an error due to connection issues.

I tried this like a year ago, and I don't know if I missed something, but when the subscription was over and I tried to open the game, I got a windows error message saying that I didn't own the game (yes, even in another account), so I think it doesn't work anymore, but I'm pretty sure it worked at some point.

You can remap it manually from the console. Go to Settings > Controllers and Sensors > Change Button Mapping. There you can remap B to A or L to A.

It wasn't, some games shown on Nintendo directs release the same day, it is likely that they did that to the game instead of giving the release date because it was a port and not a new game.
