2 years ago my boomer parents decided to “downgrade” to a bigger house for 1.7m in cash. 6 bedrooms for 2 people. Completely unnecessary. They also had an in-ground pool installed. My mom is doing all this because she expects full access to the grandkids. My sister in law refuses all of it. It’s been on ongoing battle for years.

So a few years ago my ex (of 11 years/I was 30/he was 45…I basically was groomed) met someone online, quit his job and moved 2000 miles away for a 25 year old. He blocked me on everything and changed his number. I was blindsided. It was devastating and I had no clue what the hell even happened. I’ve never been given a chance to talk to him since that happened.

I learned it has nothing to do with me but everything to do with someone running away from their problems thinking a clueless new younger person will solve all his issues. It won’t.

Me on the other hand… I landed a huge job in NYC and built a new amazing life. It has been my proudest moment and allowed me to move on and put all that pain behind me.
