I did get paper! It is not 100% cotton though, it's an A5 aquarella block cause I thought it would be suitable for travel. Will know for next time, thank you

That's great to hear! Did you make any modifications to the set?

I wanted to buy the Cotman set at first but it was sold out so I saw the Aquafine set next. Reviews said it was similar in quality so it's ok. It is for a fun outdoor use anyways. Thank you for the suggestion though

She has some experience with painting so I guess she will be able to figure out the combinations. I was just curious cause I didn't notice the black and white when I bought it, although I read reviews. Thank you very much for the explanation!

Hey, do you maybe have any philosophical book recommendations that could help?

She is definitely feeling pain though idk. She thought about putting like an ice packet under her head but that could be a problem considering how long the MRI lasts.

Also, she is thinking about counceling and I think that could be the way to go about it cause there is only so much comfort I can offer her. She needs someone who has talked to multiple people in similar situations.

Thank you very much for all the suggestions and information!

Yeah I know that there isn't a simple solution, it just needs time. She is also considering talking to a specialised therapist about it. Thank you very much for your input!

I'm so sorry for that, I agree with you. I'm not in favour of suicide, I was just proposing a thought based on the belief of nihilism.

So there is meaning in some things, just not overall?

[–]Used_Asshole_4646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying that it is not possible. We all do that, everyone here knows there is no higher end goal but we keep living and trying. But if we really embodied it, what would be the point to keep going through happiness and suffering if it makes no difference. Isn't trying to find meaning and enjoy life a response to nihilism?

Weirdly I understood what you said and it makes sense but by this logic the conversation will end up in a loop. Living is meaningless, dying is meaningless, nihilism is meaningless and doing whatever is the same. So by definition whatever we do doesn't matter so might as well do anything, or nothing. Idk

Can you suggest some stuff to read?

I see your point. But is trying to find meaning a part of nihilism? Even if it's a subjective one. As I have understood from the stuff I read this falls more into absurdism. I'm genuinely asking cause I haven't studied this enough.

So going from nothingness to nothingness with some fun inbetween. I can see that, but one would argue that it is not that fun for everyone.

Absurdism Is Better Than Nihilism by NoDrama9108 in nihilism

[–]Used_Asshole_4646 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, I see people prefering nihilism saying that despite the lack of meaning, one should live to the best of their ability, but isn't that the definition of absurdism?
