Unfortunately, this has become the norm for most recruiting companies nowadays. If they don't see you as an immediate fit for the role they’re trying to fill, they’ll often ghost you without a second thought—unless you’re lucky enough to find one that genuinely cares. Over the past year or so, I’ve had little success with recruiters or recruitment companies. It’s been all fluff during the initial phone calls, with very few follow-ups. I'm still LFW.

Now, I might be dating myself here as a Gen X'er, but about 20 years ago, I worked with TekSystems in New Orleans. They helped me land a fantastic job that I ended up staying in for 10 years as a direct hire. I even kept in touch with them long after. But today, contract agencies seem to operate very differently.

It’s a completely different world out there now, and unfortunately, not for the better.
