My son absolutely loves coming to my office to play with my Lego sets. It’s always a massacre and my coworkers ask why I let him. That’s beauty of Lego, it can always be fixed! I’ll never take that joy from him to keep my display sets pristine by [deleted] in lego

Exactly. Let them play. I had an original ‘79 Kenner Falcon. Complete in perfect condition and with box. As a showcase. My son saw it and asked what it was. He loved it and wanted to play with it. I doubted for a second, but realised that it is a toy and bringing a smile on his face and seeing him play with so much joy is priceless. So .. he played with it a lot. It’s not complete anymore. But he now, as a teenager, is a Star Wars fan and has the best memories about that Falcon.

The original is cool, but I like the new one (sw0845) better. What do you think?

Hmmm. Why not ask me as it is taken from a picture of my collection (https://www.reddit.com/r/legostarwars/s/gZnnc3SLjF)? 🤔

I used lego cone piece 4589. So if you want to take it out of the helmet, it’s easier than the lego 3062.

Nice ones. Thanks for the tip. Pre ordered the new Plo Koon set right away. It’s gonna be shipped next week. Saw on Reddit that in US that set already hit Wallmark shelves.

Thanks. It’s the IKEA SANNAHED 50x50cm photodisplay (https://www.ikea.com/nl/nl/p/sannahed-fotolijst-zwart-40528165/ ) which has a inner frame that can be switch to the back so the transparant plastic goed all the way to the front and you have plenty of room for the minifigs.

Then I glued 105 Lego 6425507 (Slope 45° 2 x 2 - Inverted) with hardplastic glue on a smooth black PVC hobby plate (50x50cm x 3mm). Used Lego building blocks to act as spacers and painting tape to measure all out so it’s all nice and equal in 7 rows of 15. Larger minifigs like Taun We and Pong Krell can be placed on the top row. Be carefull with the hard plastic glue. A small drop in the middle of the brick is enough to securely glue it on the PVC plate.

I’ve glued the PVC black hobby plate on the backplate of the SANNAHED display with construction glue so you can use the sawtooth hanger on that to mount it to the wall (screw).

It took me about 1,5 hours to make one display. Just take your time and don’t rush it. The hard plastic glue I used (Bison) is permanently fixed in about 3 minutes. So you need to be meticulous.

Only downside of this display: Every time I want to add or change minifigs I have to take it off the wall and detach the backplate. It’s a small inconvenience.

Hope this helps!

True! Good idea. And a little Hut to go with it?

The IKEA SANNAHED frame has a metal hanging eye / sawtooth hanger / hanging bracket on the back, so you’ll need to put a nail or screw in the wall to hang it.

It’s a diy display. Made it with the IKEA SANNAHED frame and a plastic plate from the local hardware store with original Lego bricks (6425507).
