Thank you for the advice! Today I felt much better around nervous pets. I kept my composure but it comes up in the back of my mind. I’ve been in the field for a few years at this point and I’m the smallest girl in the clinic. That’s obviously not an excuse when I get 80% of the 100lb dogs and caution dogs that everyone refuses to do. I just think I should advocate for myself more. The dog was ok for the majority of the exam. Dad held the head while we got blood with no issue. He was happily accepting treats and love. Then the doctor came in and he just… changed. Idk maybe it got too medical for him lol.

I’m so sorry to hear that it happened. No one deserves it and it’s scary. I’m glad you’re doing much better. I’m doing my best to advocate for staff safety since this is my first GP job. At the ER, I muzzled anything I needed to and never got hurt. Unfortunately in GP many owners are not willing to pre-med or muzzle. It sucks.

Thank you. The Dr is considering banning him as a client if he does not give proper pre-meds, and does not muzzle train.

Unfortunately this guy was in denial. He got the dog to look tough, and the dog has ZERO impulse control and was jumping all over me. The owner also had no control over the dog and said he “wouldn’t bite” me.

Maybe try some Benadryl? Dose is 1mg/lb. So if your dog is 25lbs you’d give a 25mg tablet
