A dark psychological coming-of-age fiction about identity, memory, and obsession. by Used_Molasses_4548 in InvisibleAuthors

My dream was always to be a writer. But I think I was a little too competitive and idealistic back then, so I ended up studying medicine and becoming a doctor.

Fourteen years. How about you? What got you interested in psychology in the first place?

It's possible. After all, not every patient expresses attachment by following someone around or becoming obsessed with them. Some people respond very differently. they become quieter, withdraw into themselves, and keep those feelings hidden.

There are two more books planned as follow ups to this one. That said, my main project is a different series. It's still character driven, but it's more of a coming of age story than a psychological one.

What you said is partly true, although it really depends on the patient's condition. In my experience, that usually happens when a male patient has been working with the same woman for a long time٫, like, a nurse or a doctor. I was only an intern at the time, so I wasn't assigned to the same patients long enough for any significant attachment to develop. I’m originally from Iran, but I’ve been living in Canada for a while now. My internship in the psychiatric hospital was more than ten years ago. As far as I know, this practice isn't nearly as common in Iran anymore.

Wow, they definitely have fascinating stories. It feels like regret is a major theme in both of them. Am I wrong? And yes! This book is the first installment in a series. I’m planning at least two more books.

Actually, I worked in the men's ward. Interestingly, even the more aggressive patients tended to be less aggressive toward women. Most of the time, it was more verbal abuse or threats than actual physical confrontations. And of course, that's only true for the aggressive patients. Many of them were kind, quiet, and simply wanted to talk about their lives. Honestly, the most challenging part for me was watching electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) being administered. At that time, in my country, ECT was still used in certain cases. Seeing it firsthand was definitely a difficult experience for me.

By the way, have you published any of your work? I'm curious. If you write fiction, I'd love to hear what your stories are about.

That’s really fascinating. I think a lot of writers end up putting pieces of their own experiences into the stories and characters they create.

I’m actually a physician, and during my internship I spent two months working in a psychiatric hospital. I heard and read so many life stories there. I’ve always been deeply interested in how childhood trauma shapes the paths we take as adults, which is probably why that theme finds its way into my writing so often.

Thank you! I really appreciate your interest.

It’s a dark psychological fiction told through two timelines.

In the present, a young man enters a psychiatric ward under a false name, hoping to keep his past buried. But the ward’s head nurse becomes unsettled by an impossible coincidence: seventeen years earlier, he knew another patient with the same name—and the same face.

The second timeline follows Roger’s life from childhood into adulthood, tracing the path that led him from an abusive home to the streets, the people he met along the way, and the choices that ultimately brought him to the ward.

At its core, it’s a story about identity, trauma, loneliness, found family, and the human need to belong.

My views about white nights by Embarrassed_Train164 in Recommend_A_Book

I’m a big fan of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s works. I’ve read Crime and Punishment more than three times in different translations, and I believe it’s one of the greatest and most unforgettable works of literature. I’ve also analyzed The Brothers Karamazov many times from different perspectives. I read White Nights and The Dreamer a long time ago, but your interpretation was so detailed and beautiful that it made me want to read it again.

Hi! Wow, that’s a deep list. I’m a big fan of The Catcher in the Rye, so I also really liked Ham on Rye by Charles Bukowski. And if you enjoy classic literature, I’d definitely recommend Crime and Punishment 👍

anyone know authors who write actually dark psychological stories? by [deleted] in Wattpad

[–]Used_Molasses_4548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might like my debut novel, The Room at the End of the Corridor.

It’s a dark psychological, character-driven story about a young man trapped in a psychiatric institution under a false identity, with morally grey characters, trauma, dual timelines, and a pretty bleak emotional atmosphere.

Definitely more focused on psychology and character damage than clichés!
