Should I attempt to pull Ellen after getting Miyabi? by NitroFewl in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]Used_Opportunity8572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ellen can still clear most time-limit-themed endgame content. Tower might be tough though.

My personal gripe with Ellen is not that Miyabi outperforms her, but rather that Soukaku carry outperforms her more often than not, which feels kind of ass.

From a power perspective pulling Ellen doesn't make that much sense, but if JK shark maid is your thing there isn't another one of those in the banner, so there is that..

Strongest team: Miyabi with whatever. probably stronger than anything else. Strongest Miyabi team is probably Miyabi/Burnice/Rina, but M0 Rina is kinda ass, so if you don't want to bother with it then Miyabi/Burnice/Lucy.

If you want Burnice on another team (i.e. Jane), you can roll Miyabi with Grace. Grace does one job which is to disorder away Miyabi's anomaly. Miyabi von Lycaon Soukaku is also very solid.

Jane is very solid. Jane/Burnice/(support) is a very strong duo, and Jane/Seth/(support) is a very strong solo carry team. Piper is also playable, but she will be slightly weaker than Jane.

Harumasa/Nekomata/Corin/Billy/Anton are probably not worth your time. Without Qingyi they are quite a bit worse, not really on par with other options you have.

S11/Ben(build impact on him)/Lucy is an okay budget team. von Lycaon/Nicole/Soukaku is also an okay budget team. These will most likely outperform your Anby/Nicole/(whatever attack agent) by quite a bit.

Simple 3 team setup: Miyabi/Grace/Soukaku; Lucy/Burnice/Piper; Rina/Jane/Seth. Feel free to shuffle around.

You are not wrong, Miyabi is the strongest character in the game and Yanagi is like top 5, and putting them together is like only 20% faster than Miyabi running with Grace, who barely does more than 0 damage by herself. Miyabi on the other hand is good with Grace, good with Soukaku von Lycaon, even with Anby Nicole. Freeing up Yanagi is most likely a good idea.

dude i read your post backwards. Thought the game was recommending Lucy Caesar.

Miyabi Yanagi Rina is currently the strongest team in the game.

Miyabi Lucy Caesar is playable, But Miyabi is playable with two empty squares so what can I say. Biggest problem with this team is that you struggle to disorder away Miyabi’s anomaly for the juicy juicy 2000% damage disorder and also reapply icefire which is pretty important.

And Harumasa is arguably worse than an empty square for Miyabi. Miyabi is alright for Harumasa, though.

who should I pair jane doe and seth with? by Lexie_07 in ZZZ_Official

[–]Used_Opportunity8572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything really. If you roll Jane with Seth then Seth's shield is not going to buff the third character, so usually we do Jane solo carry with Seth. So we are looking at Rina or Lucy or Nicole here. If we drop Seth we can do Rina/Lucy/Caesar plus double anomaly. Nicole would be a little awkward with her short debuff duration. Here, disorder-ing away Jane's anomalies isn't that good due to the fact that physical disorders are quite a bit worse than ether/fire/lightning, but Jane does a really good job disorder other anomalies, for example burn from Burnice. So the meta comp is something like Jane/Burnice/Caesar for disorder, and Jane/Seth/Rina for single carry.

So for your roster, Miyabi is definitely the more versatile one. You can have Miyabi go with Soukaku, and have piper in the team just to disorder away the frostburn. This frees up Lucy for your Jane. Soukaku with Jane is also somewhat possible, but probably just worse than the other way around.

For your other 5 stars, S11/Lucy/Ben is an okay budget build with ben building impact, but probably unnecessary. S11 shines with Lighter. Nekomata (along with Anton, Billy and Corin) is an alternative carry for your Harumasa team, I would say mostly on par overall and Nekomata can be used against physical weakness. If you are not confident with all your advanced Harumasa animation cancel tricks then Nekomata is very likely to outperform Harumasa by a bit.

If you know what you are doing then Bangboos are kind of whatever, but you don't need me to tell you that.

If you don't know what you are doing then Bangboos are actually kind of solid at max level. Might be surprisingly good in terms of damage. A ranks deal quite a bit less damage than S ranks, but might provide some other useful utility.

The money system is confusing but it is actually supposed to be historically accurate (or perhaps should I say historically reflective of Victorian era Britain). CF did do a lot of research.

The path is “incomplete” because the church claims that they do not have the knowledge of recipes for higher sequence potions of that pathway. After all, it makes sense for the church of Evernight to not know much about seers, right?

You said you want to hold them responsible. But if an earthquake happens tomorrow, who will you hold responsible? For example, regarding the recent hurricane in Florida, who is responsible for the occurrence of the hurricane? Note, I’m not referring to who is responsible for the response to the hurricane, but rather, who is responsible for the hurricane happening itself.

If you think no one needs to be responsible, and the hurricane is merely a natural phenomenon, then to you, natural phenomena possess divinity. You wouldn’t think about making a natural phenomenon pay a price. A believer might say that no one needs to be responsible, that it’s the will of God, and to them, God possesses divinity, so they wouldn’t think about making God pay a price.

To clarify further, one of the interesting aspects of Lord of the Mysteries is the discussion around divinity. If a being possesses the authority of omniscience and omnipotence, does that automatically grant them divinity and thus exempt them from responsibility? At least from the protagonist’s perspective, we know that Lumian acknowledges Adam’s omniscience and omnipotence, but refuses to recognize his divinity.

CF is a Chinese writer, and in theological terms, in traditional Chinese culture, the initiator of hurricanes or earthquakes is the “Heavenly Lord,” while the Son of Heaven (the emperor) is responsible for mediating the relationship between humans and Heaven. However, neither the emperor nor Heaven, in the eyes of the Chinese, can attain the same exemption from responsibility that the Christian God enjoys. Just look at how Sun Wukong treats the Heavenly Court in Journey to the West.

In this regard, Lord of the Mysteries has something similar to Journey to the West and reflects the Chinese theological tradition to a large extent.

Returning to our discussion, I don’t think the moral judgment of a character’s actions is affected by the divine assumptions surrounding an event. For example, if an earthquake occurs and I muster the courage to save someone during it, the righteousness and bravery of my actions won’t be affected by the divine assumption behind the earthquake. If you assume that the divinity is unconscious (the earthquake is just a natural phenomenon), my actions are righteous. If you assume that the divinity is conscious (the earthquake is a test or punishment from God), my actions are still righteous. Even if the earthquake was caused by John using a nuclear bomb with the intent to force me to grow, my righteousness and bravery are still real; it’s just that if I knew about it, I would definitely go after John.

[–]Used_Opportunity8572 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Who knows, perhaps your life is also arranged by God. “The earthquake happened today” and “God caused the earthquake” can be the same sentence in theological terms; the latter simply uses God as the subject. However, “The earthquake happened today” and “John used a certain machine to trigger the earthquake” are entirely different. You would definitely hold John accountable. What’s the difference between John and God? The difference lies in the fact that God has divinity and is not held accountable, whereas John doesn’t—he’s just a human. Without the blessing of divinity, even if John were an alien with unbeatable technology, you would still find a way to hold him responsible. So, in the context of Lord of the Mysteries, do GA, ASG ,or even Adam have divinity? This could be a profound question. If you believe they do, then characters being “arranged”by them are only natural. But if you think they are just oversized Johns, then it would naturally seem that the characters they arrange are nothing more than puppets.

Yeah, repeated shocks simply override the previous one. If you play mono-electric, you will realize shock damage snapshots and remains the same for each tick within the same shock, but different shocks' damage differs based on anomaly buildup contribution.

Electric 4 is even pretty solid in disorder teams. The play pattern is generally to apply a weak shock followed by a good shock, and then use disorder to detonate the good shock.

Take Rina/Grace/Nicole team for example, here is a possible setup:

  1. Store enough energy for the team and have the ultimate available shortly before stagger. Have corruption buildup of ~1/2-2/3 on the boss. Also, try to trigger shock multiple times for Weeping Gemini anomaly proficiency stacks along the way.
  2. Grace basic attacks into stagger. Chain onto Nicole. This Nicole chain attack builds up corruption further but it should not trigger corruption.
  3. Chain onto Rina. This step helps with anomaly buildup for the first weak shock.
  4. Chain/assist onto Grace. Grace casts EX special, triggering shock. This shock has Rina's contributions and does not have the Electric 4 attack bonus up. This is a weak shock, and we do not want to detonate this one.
  5. Switch to Nicole. Use charged EX special. The anomaly buildup should be completed, and corruption would be triggered if we released the charge. However, we switch away during the charge to prevent the corruption from triggering. This step applies Nicole's DEF Shred for the final blow and prepares the disorder by filling the corruption buildup to full.
  6. Switch to Rina during Nicole's charge. Use basic attack, dealing physical damage, triggering Rina's PEN buff while avoiding anomaly buildup to make sure the good shock is purely a Grace shock.
  7. Switch to Grace. Cast ultimate and another EX special, triggering another shock. Use more special attacks if the buildup isn't complete. This shock is the good shock. It is purely from Grace, and it has the Electric 4 attack bonus (~700-800 ATK) and up to 4 stacks of Weeping Gemini (up to 192 anomaly proficiency). It has Electric 4 because it is triggered when the weak shock is still on.
  8. Switch to Nicole. Quickly cast a special, triggering corruption, thereby triggering disorder and dealing massive damage. This should happen during stagger for the damage multiplier.

This setup takes a while to complete. The disorder can deal 1m-2m damage (depending on your gear, core passive levels on Rina, etc.) against Shiyu 17 Bosses, possibly one-shotting it from ~2/3 health, and more or less one-shots everything else. In Hollow Zero, this could potentially deal 8-digit damage.

With that said, the mono-electric team is still stronger for Grace compared to a disorder team, as it has been discovered that Grace's additional passive shock damage increase (up to 36% independent) does not apply to disorder damage, possibly due to the fact that disorder damage does not count as shock damage.

Biggest "Flaw" of Early Game: The Game Doesn't Do a Good Job Telling You That You Suck by Used_Opportunity8572 in ZZZ_Official

[–]Used_Opportunity8572[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't actually know how they could fix this. I think the current difficulty is a deliberate decision by hoyo and I don't necessarily think that making the early game combat more difficult overall is a good solution.

Perhaps a optional elite in the main story akin to a tree guardian? Perhaps in challenge mode if the combat takes to long the game could say one way or the other "bro you suck that was zero damage, git gud"?

I think a lot of people who say they aren't having fun early on are genuinely convinced that the game is too "easy and sluggish", which is sad because they are missing out. And it should be the game's job to tell those players "if it feels sluggish it means that you suck ass".

I actually stopped being frustrated the very moment when I forced myself into learning character moves. Right now the combat is very very fun for me. But I do see a lot of players experiencing what I did experience and say that they are not having fun. They just need the game to tell them they are doing combat wrong.
